View Full Version : Can you run an NVidia card for PhysX and an ATI card for graphics?
.. on one mobo.. at the same time? Just wondering. If so can it be done on any mobo with two PCI-Ex slots?
I suspect having both sets of drivers installed might cause problems, amirite?

It may be possible under windows xp but not vista. Vista only allows one display driver model (I'm not sure if win 7 is the same as vista or xp in that regard).

Maybe nVidia could develop a special driver without graphics that only enabled PhysX on their cards, it would be a great addon for ATI cards. I would buy an old nVidia card if I could do this

Very good point, that would be a great idea :)

I would like to know if this would work as well.
I had tried my 4850 and 8800 on my old SLI board with Vista and it was a no-go because of the driver model issue.

This is the standalone PhysX driver but I think it needs an nVidia graphics driver too if you want hardware acceleration. Otherwise it will work in software mode only
