View Full Version : Why do people say that Crysis is impossible to run?
I have a Shatty CPU, and everything else is bad, the only thing that's decent is my Video Card. The 9600 GSO. (Read sig for a little more info) (also this is overclocked 24/7)
Anyways, I got the game and I played it with "optimal settings" at medium, and got 30FPS And was thinking I could go a lot higher. So I tried High and got around 20-30FPS. I didn't try Very High yet because IMO High looks stunning. Ill just keep it that.
Any thought?

It was impossible to run when it came out, but this is two generations of video cards later.
You do not get 30FPS on that setup in your sig.
You dip to crazy low minimums on that.
Otherwise, prove it with a youtube video.
No i don't
also, I've made videos before and when I use fraps My FPS drop down another 10-15 FPS so then I get around 10FPS which is stupid
do you want screenshots, but then again those arent very reliable
Also, like I said I have overclocked 24/7
So now my CPU is at 2.2GHz
Forgot to ask, what res you running it at?
If it's lower than 1920x1200, than ignore what I said before, below it doesn't really matter.

Maybe fraps is taxing his system too much... :bleh:

Nah... FRAPs does the same for me... it typically cuts framerate in half. I've never owned a rig that didn't suffer from this. And everybody I've talked to has the same problem when recording a video with FRAPs.
Yup, FRAPS cuts alotta frames off, except if you have a high end CPU with 4 cores, then FRAPS can be offloaded to another core, and since Crysis uses quad core anyway (correct me if I'm wrong there) it'll definatly cut his frames.
And Crysis is awesome, btw.

When it came out it was very hard to run with higher settings... a lot of people refuse to play games on lower settings... so they complained. The game was built for future computers to max, but people can't stand that... they want the newest card to max the game, end of story, even if that just means taking stuff out so medium is suddenly high.
Now-a-days any recent video card will max the thing.

Last time I played the original Crysis I had an 8800gt. It ran great mind you, and I had fun with the configs. Might have to reinstall it again to stress my gtx 260 :D

no it wasn't, it ran fine on 8800GTX as long as you used some common sense and not tried to run the game on max settings

What, actually use detail sliders? Sure you jest ViN/nekro. ::):
I can see why devs now restrict detail settings. People always turn them up to max then whine when it doesn't run properly.

It's some time later, but Crysis runs beautifully on my Phenom rig.
1680x1050, all in-game options on "high", 4xAA, 16xAF, GCAA, MSTA, vsync, tb- all via driver control panel.
Runs fine. Everyonce in a while when entering a new large area it'll stutter for a second or two while stuff is loaded but that's about it. Does not hitch up or stutter during intense firefights or what not. It never used to perform so awesome untill these latest drivers. Not sure what they did, but I like it. :D
oh yea, my monitor run at 1280x1024O gawd no wonder lol...thought you were running an HD resolution on that card I was like wtf is he on about...

With the 180.48 drivers (gives me best performance), I run Crysis (single player) around 35-60 FPS at 1680 X 1050 with my high end graphics mod, no FSAA, and full motion blur. Crysis Warhead runs around the same, except for the first level (performs worst). Crysis Wars runs extremely smooth, even in my server which runs my graphics mod (40-70 FPS).
because those people are fags.

Well, isn't 1280x1024 basically "HD" resolution, just not widescreen? Do the lack of those 26 pixels really make it "low D"? I think not.

The difference between 1280x1024 (1310720 px) vs 1920x1200 (2304000 px)is no less then 993280 pixles ^_^
Quite the difference...

I play at 1280x1024 (all my monitor supports) and I found that with my rig, (not all that great), I could run at high with no problems.
...and it looks beautiful.

I think not.I meant as in a high resolution, HD was a bad choice of words. 1280x1024 is a low resolution nowadays, it's just a step above 800x600, especially for a game like Crysis, running it on that resolution is no feat.
