Omg!

I dont even know where to start. Go download this bad mofo right now!

I cant believe its free.

Just when I was getting too bored with "Enter the Matrix" to even feel like finishing it along comes something wicked.

Woot!

I still cant believe ID released this for free, It's better than rtcw!

Im with volt on this one, very addicting gameplay. guess I can let etm gather dust for a while.

I got it at fileshack but there are mirrors at file planet, 3d gamers, gamershell, etc.

258mb without the dx9 redist

includes 6 maps.

Yeah I like this game. I prefer the more realistic shooters but this is just great fun. I only played the multiplayer test version, the map in the snow where you defend/attack the tank. Pretty cool to have a decent game on linux too without resorting to Wine ;)

RTCW: Enemy Territory is an absolutely FREE, stand-along "expansion pack" of sorts. It does NOT require RTCW at all to play! As as simple as download, install, and get your groove on! And it has been VASTLY improved over the Test Demo that was released about a month or two ago! :D

I had to play the MP Test at 800x600 in order to make it playable. Now, I can play this sucker fully cranked at 1024x768 and it's smooth as silk. I am simply amazed at how much this thing has improved since the MP Test!!

Here's a snip from the README file...

Wolfenstein™: Enemy Territory™ Readme

Please read the included manual for detailed instructions on how to play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

YOU DO NOT NEED RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN TO PLAY WOLFENSTEIN: ENEMY TERRITORY!!

DO NOT INSTALL WOLFENSTEIN: ENEMY TERRITORY INTO THE SAME DIRECTORY THAT YOU INSTALLED RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN***

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a standalone game requiring no previous installation other than Direct X 8.1 (not included)

And, just for Matty, here's a list of what has changed since the MP Test...

-Player animations are much much smoother now

-Map load times drastically improved.

-Headshot damage reduction from helmets standardized to -20 damage, except for headshots by scoped rifles (K43 or Garand) which should result in instant death...

-Models for med and ammo packs changed to distinguish what is lying on the ground (they are not sacks - look like little metal cans)

-Wire added over the top of the Fuel Dump wall breach to prevent stacking.[/b]

-Three additional ranks added (Brigadier General, Major General, General) for achieving Level 4 in 5, 6, and 7 skills respectively

-Experience gained per health or ammo pack reduced from 2 per pack to 1 per pack

-Grenades are back to original RTCW physics (JAWOHL!!!!!!:D)

-Quick chat structure now completely mirrors the RTCW chat structure. New chats have been added to the END of the appropriate menus. In other words, v21 is "MEDIC" and v22 is "NEED AMMO" all over again! Much better!!

-Voices completely reworked and many favorites, including multiple variations (cheers, etc) brought back. In addition, many Axis voice chats and dialogues are now in genuine German instead of "Corp. Clink" english. :p

-"No shoot" symbol when targetting disguised covert ops made a little more prominant and seems to pop up faster

-Some skill level awards renamed to make benefits more clear (e.g., Adrenaline is now known as Full Revive)

-Spread on MG-42s increased slightly

-Constructable command posts now have a flag indicating which team built it

-Added end-game animations to the maps

-Axis medic skin changed - no longer wearing an overcoat; other skins made more detailed such as the Axis Field Ops

-Axis and Allied satchel charges are now different colors

-Objectives are voiced at beginning of map and after certain gates are reached (e.g., Tunnel doors blown)

-Player guide expanded and improved significantly. Gives detail behind experience points, skills, and lots more "how to"

-Panzer blast radius reduced by 25%. :afro:

-Random WeatherFX added (this is F'n gorgeous)! :afro:

-Going prone on enemy airstrike canister blocks the airstrike if timed right. :D

UPDATE!!

I just noticed another change that is INSANE - CovertOps at Level 2 or above also steals the NAME of the player they stole their disguise from!! In other words, if a LV 2 CovOps kills you and takes your knickers, he takes your IDENTITY - clan tag and all!!! :D :p

Since ND80USA's servers are full, I joined a random pub server earlier today. Upon a respawn, I eventually spot a teammate with (BAR) MirAcleMan for a name. Problem - that's MY name!! I quickly checked the scoreboard to see if any wise-asses on my team were spoofing me - nobody. I was the only (BAR) MiracleMan on the entire server. I'm sitting here thinking WTF?!? I hurriedly ran in the direction the dude went and I found him next to few teammates shooting at some Allies.

Off to the corner, I see a medic on our team look from me and back at the other MiracleMan providing cover fire. The old exclaimation point immediately appears over his head and I hear, "Enemy in disguise!!!!!!" and he opens fire on me...

FF was enabled...:p

Damn bastard kills me and, for *****'s & giggles, I file a complaint on him.

In reality, I'm laughing my ass off!

After I file the complaint, it dawns on him that he just spent a clip in my ass. He cries for ammo. I'm crying for a medic - him specifically - to revive me so I can take out the imposter. Finally, I had to yell at him, "Needle me, you dolt!!"

He does and I tell him to stand back. He does...

I then sneak up on my doppleganger that's blending oh so well among other teammates. I get right next to him and empty a clip right into his left eardrum. My teammates surrounding him are confused and kill me.

I file a complaint!! :afro:

And it finally dawns on them... :p

"Oh...Holy $%!* dude!! Sorry man!! WTF was that?!?!?"

"Obviously not ME, Cletus!! THAT was an enemy CO!!"

"WHA?!? But he had your name, man..."

"Cuz he STOLE my KNICKERS, you DUMMKOPF!!!"

"OMG!! That's feaking COOL!!!"

"NEIN! NEIN!! Herr dummer Esel!! NEIN!!! Getting TKed twice isn't COOL!!"

"No, I mean how COs can steal your name, too..."

"Well, yeah...but in this case, it's isn't..."

"Dude, I said sorry, man..."

"I know! Just giving you a hard time...Schwienhund!!! *ROTFLMAO*!!"

yeah this game rocks...and it is very fun to play.
my best advice for anyone that wants to learn the objectives faster and learn maps better: host your own server without letting anyone else join in it, and then go through each map as an enginner to see what the objectives are and get a feel for the maps.
i did it that way and now i have a better understanding of what i am doing.
some maps it is better to be on the axis side while some it is better to be on the allies side.
there is one map that if you are on the allies side, it starts you(your first spawn in game)on this beach like area and you must charge up this hill,,,,that map is hard as heck if your on allies, it is like MOHAA'S omaha beach map on crack...lol...crack kills!!
overall it is a fun game!....something for us to waste our time on till doom3 and halflife 2 come out...lol

I love RTCW and this is even cooler with the new classes and objectives. MY only problem with the game is the sounds and the voices.. they seemed to be gimped. Plus not enough medics! So I'm always a medic. Almost had all the promotions then the map cycle restarted..

The dreaded corrupt download.

gotta try again.

Its worth it though bro. Man this is a fun game. so many dimensions.

Im running 4xAA 16xAF 1024x768x32 with all options cranked I think it looks awesome. havent tried 1280 yet.

Im having a blast as an engineer, but I gotta laugh everytime I see a team mate who is playing as a soldier set up a mortor or mg.

the maps are large and look awesome, you can use a mortor to good effect.

im gonna have to try it as a medic next.

it might be cool for all of us to hook up using pathfinder.

http://home.t-online.de/home/christian.rodemeyer/pathfinder.htm

Pathfinder is a little utility for multiplayer games based on the Q3 engine, that queries all internet game servers for game status such as connected players, current map and so on. You can simply search for friends, which are currently connected to any holomatch server. My intention was to write a very simple and intuitive tool without the extreme overhead of gamespy or similar progs. Compared with Gamespy there are some other advantages:

uses much less memory, if you join a game, it will close itself and therefore use no memory at all while gaming
the server ping is the time from your computer to the selected game server, not the time from the gamespy master to the game server
colored names are displayed correctly (control keys will be stripped)

Now you know why I've been AWOL. I found it to be really fun and addictive! But I'm gathering benchmark results to update the NV35 review. Really, I am...heh.

All in-game graphics settings maxed out with 22Khz sound. Results are from various maps. Athlon XP 2700+ and GeForce FX 5900 Ultra.

interesting you are getting 20 fps min with the best card out there and really kick ass proc, and I am playing rather well with my Ti 4200 64 mb :D... I just have to check whether it is 1024 or 1280 resolution :hmmm: and an OC'd 1700+ to 1.9 ghz...

hah if I had the patience to benchmark after work while playing,

man I hate work  i need some

edit: heh I checked and it is actually 800*600  heh, it seems better than it is, I guess that explains it ;) why I can play with no problems
