Different products, Different price ranges, Different upgrade paths. It's not the first time SLI configuration's have overlapped in performance. Why take away the option for 3 way just because another solution performs similar?

I guess, it's not like they over hyped the 285's before launch (or anything).
I was really just hoping for something more. I'm happy though. The 2x295's seem like the solution for me. Thank's.

I am still happy with my TRI-SLI'd 280s . . . they help alot with Nvidia 3d Stereo . . .if you go for either the TRI-SLI 285s or QUad SLI I highly recommend going 3d as well! Nvidia did well.

I just breifly googled what nvidia 3d stereo was. Doesn't that require a special monitor?

3D Stereo Doesnt work With 3 Way SLI or Quad SLI right now... you get a broken form of rendering.

ComputerBase published a new review comparing 285 Tri-SLI, 295 Quad-SLI and 4870X2 Crossfire X: http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hardware/grafikkarten/2009/test_3-way-sli_quad-sli_crossfire_x/#abschnitt_einleitung

It's in German but the numbers speak for themselves.

The 181.22 driver was used. Unfortunately, they didn't use a i7/X58 system.
Anyway, conclusion is, that the Tri-SLI system is the way to go. It's better optimized, more stable and doesn't run into VRAM limitations. They don't recommend Quad-SLI and Crossfire X (3 or 4 GPUs).
