Hi,
Since i am lazy, i decided to not reinstall winders when i got odd problems when upgraded to 3.4.
So i finally got around to it, and i have to say i am impressed with the results.
Here was my order of installs/drivers.
Windows XP Pro SP1 slipstreamed
Intel App Acclerator/Mobo Drivers
DirectX 9
Cat 3.4
Control Panel 3.4
Audigy Beta Drivers
StarCraft
StarCraft:BroodWar
Half-Life-Patch-CoutnerStrike
Both half life issues have dissapeird, dosent crash on 'ESC'.
I am guessing something was left over from the 3.2's

Yes, but when i installed the 3.4's over the 3.2's with out doing a windows reinstall the esc bug was not fixed, and i was also havieng some other werid problem with HL where the menu would allways stay on the screen.

I never format just to update drivers, I just uninstall the old drivers and Control Panel through Add/Remove Programs, reboot, then install the new drivers and Control Panel and reboot again.
It's always worked a treat for me.

Heck, I don't even reformat changing cards anymore!
Just make sure you do a REAL good job of cleaning out the old drivers and you shouldn't have any problem. Bubbles has been thru about 4-5 cards since her last re-build and is doing just peachy. (I think Blue has got 6-7 different ones since her last format, & 3 soundcards...come to think of it she's pretty long overdue for a complete wipe & rebuild..... :eek2: )
If you ever get bored, use a hex editor and a compiler to remove/add stuff to your Catalyst drivers. It's cool to see what kind of catastrophic graphical errors you can produce.
Some day, I plan on knocking Omega out of business......

Ok, it was not clear to me that you had that problem.
good to hear it worked for you Glowstick. I bet if you give dawn another run you won't have the grey hair issue again either.
It seems a few people have this problem when updating drivers. I actually always use regcleaner after uninstall just to make sure everything ATi is gone.

Yeah, but my 9700pro using Omegadrive's latest with the 9800pro softmod shouldn't have any problems with it.
I'm gonna go find it... :p
("NEEENER-NEEENER-NEEEEEEEEEEEENEEEEEEEER!!!!" Sorry, but me pm box is just filling up to quick to keep exchanging them with ya privately. ;) )
EDITED BITS: ATi 9800 demos (http://mirror.ati.com/developer/demos/r9800.html), they have a nifty looking clock one too.... :D

The 9800Pro demos all run just fine on my non-modded 9700Pro, I'm pretty sure they'll run on any of ATI's DX9-class cards.
