Steam is acting very buggy and not responding every time i download a game it says

"steam service failure please restart steam and try installation again"

Every time i try to launch a game it freezes and steam exits. I just formatted my pc and i have sp1 latest drivers installed, no virus, please help how do i fix this.

i assume you tried reinstalling steam completely? might be corrupted.....

Try uninstalling and re-installing Steam. See if that helps. If you have any games, back them up first to avoid having to re-download them all. :)

thats really weird, have you tried playing steam games from someone else's machine, like a friend's or something? is it possible something is wrong in the account?

Looks like someone answered his post on the Steam forums. :p

If anyone is having the same issue, go to services.msc and make sure the service is started or set to manual. I have mine set to manual, and it works fine. But if you get an error, just set the process to manual and restart your PC. The setting should stick and you should be able to get it all sorted.

Another person reported that they solved it by disconnecting the router and connecting directly to the internet. Some setting in the router (most likely a firewall port or something) was blocking the service from connecting.

I fixed the problem. I disabled SSL 3.0 in IE. :)
