Nice!

I'm still trying to decide whether to keep going with my Q6600 build, or just sell the Q6600 and mobo to go with an AM3 PhII build. :(

Choices... :p

It dissapointing that they want do the easy 4gigs on air that they were saying before they were for sale. That might be why the price is going down.

I haven't heard of one not doing 3.5-3.9ghz, I'm sure not many people are really missing that .1 ghz enough to not consider this processor.

I am reading on other forums that Intel is going to slash prices. So, are they cutting prices again OR are the referencing the already done price cuts?

They're making more price cuts, mostly to the celeron and xeon lines as far as I understand, maybe some to the Q9x00 series as well, although I'm not sure. Thats the line the phenom II directly competes with (And for the most part beats) so it would make the most sense. I can't see them cutting prices on the i7 series.

Interesting that they would make 2 series of price cuts to the same line of chips in 2 weeks...

:p I was referring to the post about the next line of cuts. So that makes some cuts this week and NEXT week. 2 weeks total.

Well with Intel shutting down part making in the valley, who knows?

Im good for now with cpu's in the Bigman camp but who knows, another purchase would be in the works if right.

I see nothing wrong? They said it would do 4Ghz ON AIR, not on "stock heatsink/fan". IF you want to do 4Ghz, get an aftermarket cooler.

I really want one of these, but I think I'll wait.

Just to confirm, AM3 chips will be pin compatible with the AM2+ boards, you just wont be able to use AM2+ chips in the AM3 board (due to memory incompatibility). So theoretically when AMD releases their next wave, I'll just be able to drop it into my 780G?

Phenon won't be the magic way out for AMD especially in these times.
