GTA 3 / Vice City 5.1 Sound

Having put up with a SB 512 and two tin cans for years, I upgraded to an Audigy 2 and 5.1 Videologic speakers earlier this year. Copied my MP3's into the GTA 3 folder and started the game. Much to my horror, the audio settings in GTA 3 switch between headphones, 2.1 and 4.1 settings. Even changes my Audigy 2 settings when I return to the desktop. I bought Vice City in the hope they would have sorted this out but same problem. I know its picky, but whats the point of having Linkin Park in the player when the subwoofers disabled. Anyone got any suggestions?

hmmm i dunno, i dont have this problem... are you using the latest audigy drivers?

Yeah, I downloaded the lastest last night and still no difference. I have the little blue and white creative volume control on the task bar. If I use it to set my speakers to 5.1, load GTA and then quit it without even playing. Going back to the speaker setup has changed my setup back to 4.1. This is the only game that does it.
