Ok here's the rub, my main rig i use an Acer 24" monitor & run all my games @ 1920x1200, my secondary game rig which runs next to the 1st on a panasonic 19" monitor runs games @ 1280x1024.

Me & a buddy were lanning last night with FSX & i noticed a huge difference in image quality on the 19" monitor, it looked far better & sharper with better textures & more detail, the only diff with the 2 FSX settings was the resolutions, 1920x1200 on the 24" & 1280x1024 on the 19" all other settings were identical.

I'm seriously considering going back to the smaller monitor for gaming, thoughts?

The 19" is also LCD?
maybe you see a difference as the pixel size on the 19" is smaller?
Other then that only color/contrast should differ.
It could also be that your bigger screen is a 6bit display and the older a true 8bit per pixel. (cheap big TFT's are often 6bit)
What this means is if your monitor is 6bit each pixel can display 64x64x64 colors where on the 8bit each pixel is 256x256x256 colors. It's a huge difference so on the 6bit one you may see "banding" or color dithering.

I game at 1680x1050 and would never go back to the old 19" crt, even though my monitor is a 6bit one.

Ah, i see, thank you for the input, yes they are both LCD, the 24 is only 6 months old but the 19 is about 3 years+.

Thanks.

1920x1080. There's no option for me in the pole, though

I've found this TV produces better colours with more adjustment then any monitor I've had. It also does a better job of making the picture look good when running out of navite res.

EDIT: BTW I demand you change your avatar... NOW!!!1! :p (and get out of my sisters bed )

1920x1080 on a 40" TV.
I like it, I like it alot.
Could use a higher end GPU since I got the TV though, for newer stuff.
But WOW and L4D works fine.

1280x1024, soon to be 1440x900, I plan on upgrading to a widescreen LCD my next pay check. I wanna keep the resolution low though, don't want my 4830 to start choking already haha ):

1280*1024. Damn old 17 inch LCD! No space to get a bigger screen than a 19 inch (which mostly will have the same resolution)

How far back were you sitting from the monitor? That could make a difference on how smooth something looks. It sounds to me like something else is changing between the two pcs. If it was in fact the resolution, you should be able to drop your 24" down to 1280 x 1024 and all of the details will magically appear. If they do not then something is configured differently between the pcs.

I usually play older games at 2048x1536. 1600x1200 on recent games or if that's too slow I bump it down to 1440x1080.

Always at 85Hz with triple buffering and vsync forced through D3D Overrider.

CRT FTW. :)
