Did you spin the fan with your finger, see if you could hear or feel anything?

Maybe you should just bite the bullet and get the rma done before it dies on and the card cooks itself.

Yes, and when I did that it was rubbing somewhere. I put it back in the rig last night and it's not making any noise now, so I think it's a matter of the fan working itself off-kilter after a while.

I think I will RMA it. :( But then what will I game on? I can't leave Isaac hanging in level 10...

Well I wouldn't feel good about selling it to someone knowing there is something strange going on with it, so I won't do that until it "comes back" from Visiontek, whenever that is.

I didn't mean to impy that you should sell a potentially defective card lol

Don't be a pantywaste, meth. Just take the card out and tighten the fan down. You might have to remove a few screws from the HSF to get to it, but a 2nd grader could do that.

You won't void the warranty as long as you're careful about it. I returned an ATI card once with a screw missing (installed a waterblock that killed the GPU and then replaced it with stock HSF and couldn't locate the screw) and was still sent a new replacement.

If tightening down the fan doesn't work, then you have the option of going with one of the Thermalright HSFs which are better, anyway.

Yeh some people simply don't check the wares people send in. It's pretty insane if you consider the fact that it happens ALOT.

My card hasn't made any noise in 2 days. Hopefully I've been miraculously cured!

RMAs are just a tax right off for most companies......goes toward capital loss and operating costs.....it can reduce gross margin....but there are rarely enough rma's to affect a companies profitability. It would cost them more to employ people to test the cards....than to just replace the damn things.

I simply think you need to turn the fan off and the OC the card as high as it'll go. :bleh:

Hey methim, got another great idea!

Why don't you just give me the card, I'll then test it and what not for you. If I get it working perfectly again, I'll send it right back to ya'. ;)

Deal? :wonder:
