Yes, i did, and by the 15th time i was also quite good at it to and Multiplayer is STILL good imo so from my point of view the future proof thing was quite smart.

Cool.

I run 1920X1200 with 2X 8800GTs and it sucked so I lowered it to 1680X1050 to get it to play. Glad to see you got your moneys worth out of the game. Let me know how it plays after you get better cards and run the resolution native to a 24inch monitor.

Oh wait you can just start to do that now after purchasing 5 different video cards. You just made my point.

1. If I had a 24" or larger LCD, I would
2. The reason behind the upgrades wasn't for Crysis, but power comsumption during idle times as I leave my machine on 24/7. The 8800s pulled full power all the time, the 9600s only when needed as does the GTX260. Only the GTX260 gives me better framerates in all games, not just crysis.
3. Having 2 8800GTs, if you ran Vista 64bit and ran the game in 64bit, you should have been able to play with all settings at high at 1680x1050.
4. The Crysis is still a better game than CoD4.

No. No, imo it is not. I got tired of Crysis half way through the game, especially the zero-gravity part. CoD4 I finished, and still eager to play again. Much better graphics and FPS (due to smaller maps, but still).

Funny, I downloaded COD4 way after I finished Crysis and I feel the exact opposite of you. Crysis was actually a much more free-ing type of game. Cod4 felt like the same ol' linear washed up approach done a million times. There were some neato elements of COD4 which I did like. But once I started shooting and the crosshairs were the worst ever in a FPS game imho. I didn't feel like wasting my time, I really would like my money back too.

I was disappointed by COD4. It's all scripted...so much so that you can just follow your team and do little to nothing. I think they lost their mojo after COD2. The same formula does not yield the same results the second time around. It is just boring.

Crysis was much more fun to me. It wasn' groundbreaking (in gameplay), but it lets you go about the mission any way you want. It doesn't limit you like COD4 does, where...oh you can't go here, a tank is coming, so you must go this way and what do you know...scripted sequence coming up...prepare to do what it tells you in 5 mins or you die.

No one except the higher-ups at Nvidia knows what the next high-end card is going to be called, but GeForce GTX 380 sounds reasonable. I'm happy with my new GTX 295, but it's sad when you buy a new card for $499 and it's obsolete in six months! Also, I heard that the next-gen Nvidia cards would be DX 11 compliant, but I don't know why Nvidia would want to release a new card so soon when DX 11 won't be around until Windows 7!

Nvidia said they are sending me two 295s for a project . . . almost wish I could delay it until Summer . . . .well, maybe have to do two projects ;)

So do you have to send all this stuff back after you use it and take it to shows? Or is it yours to give away or sell once you no longer need it?

LOSE - to fail inadvertently to retain (something) in such a way that it cannot be immediately recovered.

LOOSE - free from anything that binds or restrains.

whoa, someone went to college.

I keep it all. I have TRI-SLI'd 280s with Nickle-plated Danger Den blocks from my last GPU sponsorship ;) Last year Nvidia gave me four 9800 GX2s and mobos for builds. Intel gave me a Skulltrail and two QX9775s. Crucial has given me a couple thousand in ram, an i7 940 cpu, Asus PT6 mobo, couple SSDS. ATI gave me a couple 3870 X2s, dragon mobo, spider mobo, Black Edition Phenom proc . . . .lots of other stuff but you get the idea. All this stuff is keepers. The only things I gave back was the five Mountain Mod Ascension cases that made the Daywalker case and three of the six 280s from Palit (they let me keep the other three as I mentioned for doing the mod). I will not sell and ES stuff I get as I think that is morally wrong but I will sell retail stuff if it is with the build.

If you want to get sponsorships I will gladly help set you on the path.

I felt the same way about Crysis... Pretty much Far Cry 1.5 with nice graphics that takes a person through very scripted events. The only thing going for it was the maps were much larger so you felt you could do what you wanted. Oh and it brings most common systems with 24 inch monitors to their knees.

Anyone remember the early Half Life 2 videos? Where you hid behind cars and battled along side Barney? I never found that in the final product, but Call of Duty Modern Warfare is exactly like that, and it's super fun. I got dissapointed, but eventually a game like that appeard.
