2.2GHz is the average overclock for a XP2500+

Matty, what Vcore you running at? I just got my XMS 3200 memory in, so of course I've done some extra overclocking. But I had to raise the Vcore to 1.85 to get a stable OC to 2.1ghz. (I've got the sweet 1700+)

Yeah Ive got some probs, things just not adding up :(

Highest I can run the vcore is 1.75, my CorsairXMSpc3200 cas2 isnt running as it should :(
Temps are so high that I have to run it at stock because its so damn hot here in the south of France now, case temps were 41°c

Also, dont forget that the Barton2500+ is only 1.84GHz default, so 2.2GHz is the same as a 3200+ if its 11*200, as the cpu is running a 400fsb. When I ran Sandra, the score listed for a 3000+ are 9033/3670, a bit different from Matts ss  I also will flash back to the latest bios for my board, hense my cpu isnt showing as a Barton.

Nice overclocking Matty :afro: those 1700+s are nice little chips

Go get the latest BIOS for the mobo (I have the same mobo) drops your temps by like 10C, so using high voltage like that isn't so bad...

Plus use some extra voltage on your RAM, there's not one stick of PC3200 that runs @ 2.5V, not even CAS3 Samsung RAM...I'm using GeIL RAM, and it can run up to 3.1V safely, but I run it @ 2.9V.

You also might want to bump the northbridge voltage up a point, I hear this helps a lot for tempramental systems...

Thanks for the advice there Matty, im still having some probs even at defaults now, that includes defaults on the vid card also. I think ive messed my HDD today with teh high fsb's so ill format this puppy tomorrow then take it slowly ;)

Could you possibly list off all your voltages you have set in the BIOS? My system will seemingly run stable, as in not so much as a hiccup during 2 hours of UT2k3, and then as I'm browsing the web just out of nowhere hard lock.

RAM 2.9V

chipset 1.7V

CPU 1.8V

Plus sometimes you just can't do it no matter what you try, it's all luck really...drop back to 166MHz FSB if it can't handle it...

Thanks, I'll try to do some more tweaking and see what happens. It should do 200mhz FSB just fine as I have the Rev2 board (certified for 400fsb) and PC3200 memory, but I may have to drop back to 2ghz (10x200), depending on how the tweakage goes.

Well after growing my hair long, only to pull it out the last three days, I think Ive found my problem :p

I think ive got it down to my generic 350Watt PSU!!
To check this, I unplugged my cathode, and front panel ligh to take some load off the PSU, ran 3dmark2001 looping benchmark for about 30mins, and just played RavenShield for about an hour without one hiccup :)

So, this is what Im running now, as it seems my PSU doesnt have enough juice,

KT3Ultra 5.7bios
FSB 166
cpu - 1.65v
ram - 2.7v
agp - default
ram timings - 2-2-6-2 T1

So if I can pic up a better PSU soon, then I may be able to set it up a little faster ;)

I just ordered one of these to replace my xp2600 which will run at 333 fsb. Any chance this will run at 400?

Depending on your motherboard, but the chip should do 400 no probs, Ive seen alot at 11*200 and even 12*200 :D Im going to have to wait, new psu and summer to pass as its already too hot here :(

Got and installed today. Running currently at 1.725vcore on 400MHz fsb @ 2.1GHz. Timings are 6-2-2-2-2.5. Thanks for the thread! :)
