still waiting for the gtx300....

just kidding. Yeah I'm waiting for it but apparently per another thread my youngest brother wanted an upgrade for his 8800gts and gave me the $$ to buy a fellow forumite's GTX275. It looks like he's wanting a dog instead (lol random) and now apparently I will be upgrading to the 275. :p

So hopefully I'll see a few more FPS over the 8800.

I don't have the game (yet) but I downloaded the demo and set the resolution to 1920x1080 then set everything to very high and set AA to 0 and also 4 then tried out DX9 vs DX 10. Here is what I got

7/7/2009 10:27:11 PM - Vista 64

Run #1- DX10 1920x1080 AA=4x, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 20.165 (Min FPS: 14.84 , Max FPS: 23.25 )
NEXT BENCH RUN- 7/7/2009 10:34:39 PM - Vista 64

Run #1- DX10 1920x1080 AA=No AA, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 26.17 (Min FPS: 19.47, Max FPS: 30.42 )
NEXT BENCH RUN- 7/7/2009 10:42:03 PM - Vista 64

Run #1- DX10 1920x1080 AA=No AA, 32 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 26.135 (Min FPS: 19.70, Max FPS: 30.58 )
NEXT BENCH RUN- 7/7/2009 10:47:48 PM - Vista 64

Run #1- DX9 1920x1080 AA=No AA, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 52.68 (Min FPS: 38.91, Max FPS: 65.55 )
NEXT BENCH RUN- 7/7/2009 10:51:31 PM - Vista 64

Run #1- DX9 1920x1080 AA=4x, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 38.485 (Min FPS: 29.59, Max FPS: 47.26 )

Seems Directx 9 and no AA runs best for me. I don't mind turning off AA at that high of a resolution but is there much of a difference visual wise between DX 9 and DX 10? It is hard to tell in the demo benchmark. Also does the real game run better with it's patches than the demo did for people that own the game(s)?

wow i thought 2 gtx285's would run much better. guess not.

The demo gets very bad performance compared to the full version with patches.

Well even for the benchmark that is very bad for 2 gtx 285s but it's the demo so that's why. I installed the demo on my friend's computer and he has a gtx 275 and it ran pretty poorly but figured it was because it was the demo.

Soet, was it REALLY necessary to clog up the page with all those pictures?

I am on a pretty fast connection and it was ridiculous for me.

Please use common sense before posting a ton of HUGE pictures (in terms of memory).

Just put him on ignore, then you don't have to deal with seeing the same screenshots that he didn't even take over and over again. ;)

No offense, Soet.

I clicked the links from the auto notify email that it said he posted and they didn't look to be too high res?? unless those were different?

Only a fool would argue with that, I think by the time cards can make Crysis run the way I suggested the game will be irrelevant.

Here it is almost a year ago and the game is still not irrelevant. It is still a popular game, and cards are starting to take advantage of the engine in Crysis.

What kind of FPS are you guys getting inside the town in the "Recovery" level with these awesome rigs of yours. With a E6600 @ 3.2GHz and a stock 275, it's constantly dipping into the teens at 1680 x 1050 even with settings all at High. Maybe I need to reformat or something, because when I stand on top of that building where you find the girl and look around while NKs are shooting at me, it's not uncommon for the game to hitch and pause and be borderline unplayable.

Which is weird because the performance in the first level was dramatically improved from my 8800. I'm beginning to think it's just this one spot in this level.
