View Full Version : xp2800, a7n8x deluxe, which RAM??
I am not sure if I should use 2700 RAM or 3200 RAM...what are the benefits of each when my FSB is 333, but soon to be overclocked a bit? If I decide that I want to overclock, but not yet, could I get the 3200 RAM, underclock it to match my FSB at 333, then return it back to standard speed when I increase my FSB towards 400? Can I just buy 2 sticks of 256mb RAM to run synchronously, or do I have to buy special RAM for my new MOBO? Is Crucial RAM good ram for the money? Help!!

Get some Corsair PC3200 ram. Two sticks--256 mb each. You want the extra speed for overclocking headroom. That DDR400 will also be beneficial for your next upgrade.
Corsair seems to be the best stuff about.
Yep, get some Corsair with the fasted speed rating possible. Then set your FSB/Memory to 1:1 @ 166Mhz and start overclocking from there. When you start to have problems its easier to figure out what is holding you back when your Memory is still running under spec.
And yeah, Crucial is not Corsair but still a great Value.

I have Corsair PC 3500C2 XMS in my ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe2.0 witch I run the timeing at 2-2-2-5 with no problems, with my XP2400 running at 200x11@2200,but get the Corsair TwinX 3200LL at least, since the default timeing is 2-2-2-6 0r 5 can't remember so you don't have to set it up manual, really no since in getting the PC2700 unless you never plan to run at a FSB of 200. But you don't have to buy any special Corsair ram any two PC3200 ram will work fine, and run at 166FSB with no problems,it just the Twinx has been tested as a pair to run with no problems on the N-Force2.

U get 2-2-2-5 and you have not problems. I have a 2600xp on a a7n8x and have to have my pc3500xms at 2-3-3-7 other wise it will crash in games. It is running @ 11x200 also. If I go any higher it is unstable. Any suggestions how to keeps it from crashing in games. I upped the agp and the volts.

I fixed it. The AGP had to be adjusted. :(
