The LOTRO shadow issue is fixed. I can move on from 178.24 take advantage of all the extra whizziness now.

After installing these drivers, I cannot play FEAR 2 at all, even when I roll back to earlier drivers.

Have you tried using DriverSweeper to remove your drivers before re-installing your earlier drivers? Might be worth a shot.

1. Uninstall the NVidia display drivers using the Control Panel.
2. Reboot into safe mode.
3. Run DriverSweeper to remove any remaining files/registry settings etc.
4. Reboot into 'normal' mode.
5. Install your previous drivers.
6. Reboot (just to be sure).

After doing that lot, you should be good to go again.
