View Full Version : Why does Internet Explorer 7 crash frequently?
When I am browsing, IE7 will crash randomly. It's not at the same spot/Web site but randomly. What's going on? :(
By the way, I am using the 32-bit edition. By using the 64-bit edition, will these problem go away?
First of all go through and disable addons/activex plugins.

I would suggest disable all and see if your browsing is stable. Then enable flash and see if it works. Flash can be a common source of problems, try to uninstall and reinstall it.
here is a page on MS with some general hints you can go through (also takes up the plugins as above)

I gave up officially with IE7 a week ago with the program crashing ever session I was using it. So I went to Firefox. Ever since then I will never be going back to IE7.
Just downloaded Firefox. So far it seems pretty fast and stable. :)

My IE7 has actually just started to frequently crash, how odd.
Okay, I just noticed that a lot of similies and GIFs run a lot smoother in Firefox than in IE 7.

I just found this littler program from adobe that uninstalls flash cleanly. Most IE crashes are caused by Flash.

Okay, I have been using Firefox for about a week now and I just had my first Firefox crash. :(
I was on YouTube and switched a video from HD to regular and it just crashed. I hope this won't happen again.
Been using Firefox for a couple weeks and it is clearly better than Internet Explorer 7! No more crashes and the speed is great. :)
Some GIFs and similies also run faster/smoother in Firefox than in Internet Explorer 7 and I'm not sure why.

I'm noticing that IE8 Release Candidate 1 crashes much less than IE7 and if it does crash there is tab recovery.
Just downloaded Firefox. So far it seems pretty fast and stable. :)
FF FTW!
