View Full Version : Question About Homeland (In)Security/Martial Law
I'm just curious about this whole homeland security and martial law thing. If the highest level of homeland security is established, what happens to our "usual" rights? Exactly how bad will/can it get?
My main concern is about firearms. I believe that even though we do have the National Guard, everyday and ordinary Americans have the right to defend their soil. I know I wouldn't feel the least bit safe in a martial law situation. There can be nothing worse than sitting waiting and wondering if you and your family might hit because they are forced to be "sitting ducks."
Like I said. I'm just curious as to what this might mean for us, the We The People, who should be the defenders of the Land.
Thanks,
Phyre

Geez scared UDawg already. Well since you asked here's what they say.
5. Severe Condition (Red). A Severe Condition reflects a severe risk of terrorist attacks. Under most circumstances, the Protective Measures for a Severe Condition are not intended to be sustained for substantial periods of time. In addition to the Protective Measures in the previous Threat Conditions, Federal departments and agencies also should consider the following general measures in addition to the agency-specific Protective Measures that they will develop and implement:
* Increasing or redirecting personnel to address critical emergency needs;
* Assigning emergency response personnel and pre-positioning and mobilizing specially trained teams or resources;
* Monitoring, redirecting, or constraining transportation systems; and
* Closing public and government facilities.
Others report it like this --

Basically, a Red Alert isn't a good thing, odd when you think that a Red Alert in one state, would drag 49 others to a halt.

Due to the nature of a terrorist attack, having armed civillians walking around would make the situation worse. Terrorists wouldn't invade in the hundreds of thousands, where a civillian militia could be useful. Instead there would be only a dozen or so terrorists possible using weapons of mass destruction. Its unlikely that on their way to releasing toxins into a water reservior at 3 am in the morning, that they make a detour and try to invade your home where you will have the opportunity to shoot them. All that would happen is a bunch of innocent civillians who looked vaguely arabic would be killed by rampaging mobs of white american vigilantes.
