There's obviously been a big trend recently towards releasing full 1080p monitors into the market, and Asus are not to be left behind! Their new VH242 24" model offers a full 1920 x 1080 resolution, 5ms response time, 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and 170/160 viewing angles. The screen is TN Film based, and also comes with VGA, DVI and HDMI interface options.

There's integrated speakers, HDCP support and a basic tilt adjustment. No word on price yet but the screen should be available very soon.

I am considering it too as it seems like my less than 6month old Samsung 2253bw is already degrading in its brightness. :thumbdwn:

I looked at one of these Asus monitors at Best Buy a couple weeks ago because I was thinking of getting one too. I think it was actually the 22" version, but it looked decent for the price. There might have been a little banding, but it was hard to tell because they had one of those crappy video loops running ads so it might have been the video and not the monitor. And of course it's a TN so the viewing angles aren't great, but if you want a cheap, big monitor they look like a good choice.

For reference, I ended up getting a Samsung 2443BW for about $300 shipped from ncixus.com. I wanted full 1920x1200 and it has a nicer stand. Plus it has cool touch sensitive buttons, not that that should make any difference.;)
