with that resolution, i think 280 is approaching overkill, of course then you can try to see how much eye candy you can add.
280 should be plenty though.

600W should be fine to run a single 280, just don't plan on going SLI anytime soon. Another thing, does it come with the 8 Pin PCI-E power? If not you can use the converter, but don't plan on that for a long term solution.

A 260 would probably be fine for what you need.

BTW, don't bump your threads more than once every 24 hours.

Seeing as the Power Supply you have has no 8 pin PCI-E connectors, you would probably be better off with a GTX 260. They only require the 6 pin connector.

I would just get a GTX 260 if I were you, especially if you're gonna run that CPU at 2.4ghz.

I thought that the 280's came with a converter for the PCI connector, but I could be wrong.

Not all of them do.

I would think that a 260 with no AA would be able to handle almost anything out there at your resolution.

I would get something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130448

If you plan to use high levels of AA and AF, and you can get your CPU to 3.4-3.6ghz, a 280 would give you a boost over the 260.

If you leave your OC where it is, I don't think the 280 will be much different performace than a 260 in most games.

iam not really a good oc guy and wanna stay that way

i just wanna play games played at 2 aa and 16 af or less

if aa is only good with ocling ur cpu then iam better at wat i have

That's my opinion. :)

The 260 will crush the 8800GT that you have.
