I found this over at Guru3d: http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-285-review--3way-sli/3

I was searching because of high idle temps for my GTX 285 (58c in closed case) and wanted to check if clocks were lowered in 2d mode. GPU-Z reads 648/1242/1486 all the time, maybe the program just read default 3d clocks?

According to the screen at Guru3d rivatuner should be able to read current clocks but iīve installed it and havenīt found where i can do just that.

Any help on how i can check if my card downclocks in 2d mode?

Thanks :)

Edit: According to EVGA precision the clocks are at full 3d mode as i type this...

This thread should read: My GTX 285 doesnīt clock down in 2d mode.

Reinstall the drivers?

I'd uninstall any tweaking programs you're using, uninstall the driver, reboot and reinstall a new driver fresh.

Then install EVGA precision again to see if things are back to normal.

Tried it and no success, still stuck with 3d clocks in 2d mode :(

Should i run some driver cleaner program after uninstalling the nvidia drivers?

More suggestions would be much appreciated!

Huh, now it suddenly started to work and idle temp is down to 46!?

Edit: Card do not throttle down when using multiple displays. Now idle and load temps seem normal: 45 idle and max 87 during load.

I have to close some backround programs to get mine to drop down to 2D mode.
