Do you want two 295s or three 285s . . . which would you choose? I was asked and opted for the 295s . . . .just curious to see what you all would do.

2x295 = 4x260 > 3x285? Yes? *NSFW*

You can't go wrong either way. But in saying that 3 cards look cooler than 2 cards :D

2x 295's, that opens up another slot for PhysX :D

3x 285's. 1 core less, but that extra memory is precious. Never really noticed the difference until I saw the 295 stuttering on GTAIV where my 280 was working smoothly. If they hurried up and released a 2Gb 295, or even better, a 4Gb (2Gb per core) then that would be awesome.

The memory configuration on the 295 is a function of the width of the memory bus, so if they were to release a 2GB (or 4GB) version, they would have to increase the bus width from 448-bit to 512-bit. They could also reduce it to 256-bit but that would kill bandwidth, unless they switched to GDDR5. The only reason the 295 isn't 512-bit is because of power consumption/heat. It really would be awesome if they did release such a card, but I highly doubt it would be a 295, let alone on 55nm, since it would require severe reworking of the PCB.

The best you could realistically hope for would be a 3584MB 295 which would be 1792MB per core, but again, heat/power consumption would come into play. It's remotely possible, since MSI has a 1792MB GTX 260, but probably never going to happen. I remember I was holding out for a 2GB (1GB per core) 9800GX2 because there were 1GB versions 9800GTX and 8800GTS, but eventually realized it was probably never going to come, and it didn't.

3x 285 - More memory.

2x295's indeed!

I'd have gone with 3x285 myself.

I'll always opt for the most powerful GPUs over the largest number of GPUs.

More memory, more memory bandwidth and more "raw speed" without relying on drivers to balance the load with another GPU.

Either way though, you're going to have a monster system.

Is that going in your print server at the clinic? :lol:

3 x 285's

Better cooling and the hot air is blown out of the case (major benefit IMO), unlike the 295. Also less CPU limited.

3 285s. Sell the two, stick with one. More profit... I could also stay with one 295, but that would mean less money for me and having to suffer SLI gaming...

3x285, no doubt.

Anyone have a Benchmark that includes 3X285 and 2X295?
