well i found 7048 a bit troublesome to get working at all it had so many issues like things didnīt work and games were slow and hard to install like crysis man took me a few installs before it wanted to start and was slow slower than FC2 and slower than in Vista or XP.

is this better in any way or do i wait for a RC ?

I installed it last night. Honestly, other than a few UI changes, it isn't any different than 7048. There is a bug with a desktop.ini file launching everytime windows starts up. There is a fix out there for it:

http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/5159-build-7057-desktop-ini-fix.html

I run x64 on all my main machines, but x86 on a laptop. Again, other than some small UI changes, there isn't much different. One thing I did notice is when you disable UAC, you now receive a prompt. This was supposed to have been fixed in previous builds, but this is the first build I have seen it functioning properly. Before you could disable UAC without being prompted and confirming. I hope for the RC they manage to get all of the icons changed to the newer style. The vista style icons and the windows 7 style icons don't go well together.

I don't believe so. Supposedly it is a Pre-RC1 build with the RC1 EULA already included.

Could someone maybe create a thread detailing some changes between the builds?

i'm using 7048 x64 on the laptop, and would preffer not to switch to 32bit again. waiting for new x64 leak

why is vista/s7ven x86 not as good as x64?

it doesnīt affect DX10 or does it ?
or is it that Quad adn dual cpuīs perform better under 64BIt

Why download a new version ?

Doesn't windows update patch older versions ?

nekrosoft13, there isn't much different in this build. Not anything that would be worth switching from x64 back to x86. In fact, the only thing I've noticed so far are a few GUI tweaks. Also, UAC now pompts you when disabling it. In build 7048 you could just set it at its lowest setting without confirming. Honestly, I just installed this on my laptop and an older workstation to test the new build. Nothing to write home about. Hopefully the official RC will bring some more changes. Also, ASUSEN7900GTX, there will not be 2 Release Candidates. There will only be one -- just like there was only one beta release. Again, this build is just a branch of the RC1 builds, not the official.

The major difference people focus on between x86 and x64 is the amount of memory the Operating System can utilize. 32-bit can use just about 4gb including VRAM. 64-bit can utilize much more, thus making it worthwhile if you have 4gb of system memory plus a graphics card with its own dedicated VRAM.

i see so i wait for the x64 of this new so called "RC" then

also is it wise to have 2 OSīs on one disk divided in 2 partitions?

RC1 is supposed to be released next month on 10th.

That is correct, but just as beta 1 build 7000 was available before its public release, people are expecting that RC1 will be the same. However, as I previously posted, this is believed not to be the official RC1 build. It is from the RC branch which includes the EULA from RC1. I would guess that in RC1 we'll see the final UI, just as we did with Vista RC.

Gonna try the 7057 x64 version as I've run into a couple of bugs with the current 7000 build.

Please report on the speed and stability of the build.

I have it on my msdn subscription, I think, but I'm not going to bother with any more beta builds till RC1 or final.
