View Full Version : How to make MSN Messenger open links in Firefox?
How do I make the e-mail button in MSN Messenger open in Firefox rather than IE? I have set Firefox as the default browser but it still opens in IE when I click the e-mail/Hotmail button in MSN Messenger.

You'll need a plugin like Stuff plug.
http://stuffplug.com/
It will allow you to choose which browser MSN and Live Messenger will call.

In the latest version of Windows Live Messenger available through the Windows Essentials pack it finally opens it correctly in whatever browser you have set to default so no more need for StuffPlug. It finally works in Firefox Beta 3.1 thanks to Beta 3 being released.
You could also use MSN Plus (google it).
I personally use Pidgin seeing as I also have an AIM account to talk to my peeps in the states. It's pretty good. Nice and simple, but there still a long way to go on stability.

Yeah. That's true. I mean I use my hotmail in Chrome now so I should have noticed. LOL
Yep, just downloaded the latest Windows Live Messenger and it opens email in Firefox. :)

Did you notice that you have to enter your password to access your e-mails. It doesnt load straight into your inbox like ie.

If you click the nice boxes underneath that which say "remember my email and password" and
sign me in automatically" or something to that effect straight to the inbox you go.

If he does that, anyone who uses his pc can access his e-mails. But if he uses IE as a default browser, clicking the e-mail button on MSN will log him in to his e-mail automatically.
