I was just thinking it'd be nice to have a thread like this, sorta like the Screenshot Thread, Just my 2 cents, Feedback threads are awesome, So are screenshot threads, Video threads are also cool as well, In general fraps videos, montages, frags, benchmarks, offscreens, you name em' etc.
So I'll start(not my videos, my youtube account is glitching out with hd, but i'll have videos soon, tons of fraps hd goodies on the hdd), Apparently, i can't emb with youtube tags

if i had the know-how and was not lazy, I would make a cod4 video.......unless you want your video in hd, i don't think you have to jump through many hoops, encoding is a b****,
i'm lazy too, i can't bring myself to make those fancy videos with fancy opening credits and effects, For the most part with less demanding games, i just randomly record clips up while I'm actually playing, pressing f9 every now and then, that way, it's not a bother, so i end up with a bunch of random videos after hours of fun, then i use movie maker to splice up, then encode, then youtube
The best way to encode videos for youtube I have found, is to use StaxRip to convert it into an h264 file (using a balanced video quality profile).
Imo the biggest problem is mearly capturing smooth video at 720p. Generaly you want to encode a game with all the bells and whistles activated, and usualy that leaves little cpu power and bandwidth for capturing and saving a HD stream at the same time.

Can't you just play at 1280x720 res. and crank up the graphics. then just put it in movie maker and put output as 1280x720 in your options. i don't think xp has that in movie maker but my vista does anway. i have sonyvegas but if you don't have any other program movie maker should do it in vista.
my monitor is 4:3 and it would look weird playing at that res. but the output should be a video showing with blackbars on the top and bottom.
just set fraps to record at full video settings and not half and then upload to youtube.

4:3 makes me cry.
hmm..hawx makes me think of afterburner.. the plane seems to have no weight, and you can turn sideways and upside down with like no loss of altitude. advanced computers or not..if your going sideways, you are droping like a rock. I was anxiously hoping for a present day wing commander but that seems abit to arcadish to me.
