Do you get a good boost adding a third GTX 280 card.I got nearly all my stuff to put together my i7 system.I bought a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 and it seem to get pretty good reviews and supoose to be a good overclocking motherboard and my i7 920 CPU with 6gigs of OCZ DDR 1600 memory.I been looking at reviews ,but some look good and some don't.I would like to hear from some people who are running three GTX 280 cards and is it worth it ,or is a better card comeing out soon.

Probably wasting the money unless you are at resolutions really high like 2560.

I just have a 24' monitor so 1920x1200 is the highest I can go.

I'm sure they can be put to use at 1920, the only question is how much are you willing to spend for maybe a 20-30% improvement, something that may not even be visible in most games. However, if you plan on upgrading to 2560x1600 in the near future and can't afford to buy all new cards, you may want to go ahead and buy a third one because they're becoming increasingly scarce and more expensive as they do.
I went from only one card to 3 x 280's. There is a big boost in FPS. I never did just try with 2 cards though. Crysis is smooth as @ 1920x1200 8xaa 16xaf all settings maxed. So it was worth it for me.

How does the three work when your cards are not the same frequecy.I know with my 680i SLI ,which ever one was in the first slot ,that was the frequecy they both ran at.I have a BFG GTX280 OCX and a plain BFG ,but it had no problem running at the higher speeds.

It's the same for the Tri setup. All cards run at the speed of the card in the first PCI-e x16 slot.
