View Full Version : WOW, can these flash ads be more obtrusive?
I probably risk getting this thread deleted but seriously, the adds are impossible to navigate around and are extremely obtrusive. I've no problem with the ads being there, but their flash format expands them out over half of my screen literally FORCING me to click on them.

What adds? I don't see any adds.
The ads at the top of the screen expand without notice and without needing a mouseover event.
This is the wrong section for it to be posted though. Feedback is the right one.

Never see them, I haven't seen such things on the internet in years.
I can't believe there are people out there who are not using adblock extensions in their browsers.

in my experience, flash ads become much more obtrusive once you actually install the flash plugin. Try not to do that.
Yeah, it's the flash ads. I have nothing against ads with the space alloted to them, but the moment they expand over the content you're trying to view that becomes terrible. Wish companies would police the ads they allow on their site a bit.
Ads are fine, like what was said, but I have a problem when they are right on top of the forums and drop down right in the middle of the screen. For that reason, I use ABP on this site. Sorry, there are some here that like to flame, but when the ads get in the way, they gotta go.

Not everyone uses Firefox. Not everyone who logs onto Nvnews does so on a system which allows firefox usage. I don't log into Nvnews on firefox most of the time because I use IE at work (needed for many internal websites).
The fact is there is a LARGE banner ad that pops up.
nothing to say more on ie ...

I use IE and i have no such problems, but then again, even my windows popup blocker is pretty good
They have been getting on my nerves a lot lately to. 9/10 times I try to click on the search button from the main forum page a huge ad pops down making it impossible.
Yep.
They are not there all the time. I think it's a Symantec ad or something which is the only one I have seen which does this.
Netshelter is serving those ads and I've notified them about threads like this before. One way to get the ad to roll back up is to click on a space outside of the ad.
