i mean what do i do? i called UPS they said that the agent will come to my house and inspected it. i know he's gonna bull me about insufficient packaging and blah blah blah.. but it's not that!

WEll, wait and see how it goes before you throw a fit about it. That sucks, though-- good luck.

I had this happen when I shipped my motherboard to Asus. I insured it for $100, which is the normal insurance amount, but its worth more. One of the corners ended up being broke so I had to pay for them to send me a new motherboard, which doesn't work. So I went to where I shipped it from and was told they would take care of it. That was in January and all I've got to show for it is a broken motherboard and $100 out of my pocket.

well i would say since you didn't insure it, you might be out of luck.

Why is it your fault? Who sent it?

Was the box marked fragile? Whenever I've shipped stuff UPS they always want to mark any electronics as fragile. For a case you probably didn't have enough padding either, but that's a little ridiculous how screwed up that case is. Hope they can work something out for you.

it went through Chicago and i found this on the web
(We've been told by a UPS driver that the UPS distribution facilities in both Dallas and Chicago are notorious for packages falling off conveyors. The driver stated that these distribution centers are nothing but big "engineering disasters" that tear up people's property)

heh btw google:UPS damaged package and we r in 4th place by google search results

Last sale I had arrived to the buyer damaged. It was only the cpu cooler that was destroyed, and I was covered up to $100 so I was good. I use a shipping store close to the house that I do all shipping thru.

I went back to them, and one of the employees called UPS and started the claim. I just needed a reciept to show them the retail cost of the item, and I had a check within a week.

a friend of mine who does a lot of PC selling on ebay gets one or two of these every 4-6 months. However he does insure them for the full cost.

With that said, he told me UPS always denies the first claim, and he has to refile or however you go about challenging the 1st denied claim. Every time they honor the 2nd request to honor your claim.

if nothing else you should be entitled to the $100 amount.

Good luck

IMO shipping carriers should have a duty of care responsibility and you shouldn't have to insure sh*t against their screw-ups. Sure it'll make shipping cost a little more in the end but that will encourage them to re-think the way they design their package routing centers.

Why would ANYONE mail out a computer WITHOUT insurance???? That to me just sounds retarded. Any pics of what the box looks like or what packing material was used???

Having to pay extra for insurance keeps you honest though. If they included full insurance I'd just start declaring my packages for twice of what they are worth and hope they damage them.

i shipped a PC once, i took the peanuts put them in anti-static bags, and actually filled the case inside with those bags. So nothing inside could move.
