Hi,

I'm running Linux (Ubuntu 9.04) with a Geforce 9800 GTX+. The card works fine with driver 180.37, but the noise of the fan is very annoying.
As soon as the x-session starts and the driver is loaded, the card's fan switches to full speed.

This there any possibility to regulate the fan speed?

Thanks,
crudeoil

with this program you can control nvidia fan speed under linux operating systems:
http://www.linuxhardware.org/nvclock/

theres also a linux forum here might try posting there as well.

welcome to nvnews mate! :captnkill:

Thanks for your quick replay!

Unfortunatelly nvclock's fancontroll doesn't work with a 9800GTX+:

crudeOIL@Angband:~$ nvclock --fanspeed 40
Error: adjustment of the fanspeed isn't supported on your type of videocard!

I also enabled CoolBits, but even running the GPU with 3D@100MHz doesn't have any effect on the fanspeed.

Well I'm running out of ideas :-(
