has anyone been able to do this?
i think there is a bug in the game-driver interaction that just makes a hard lock inevitable.
even an increase by the smallest increment makes it crash.
iv seen this on both the 216 core and 192 core of evga and xfx
OS iv been using is vista 64, but it may happen on others.

disable multicore support in the options. Some people were having issues with that crashing their machines.

well, im aware of that solution, and thats for a different type of crash, and afaik, has been fixed for a while with recent drivers so is no longer necessary.

this is a crash where the screen turns a solid color and there is a sound loop, and not even a reset will fix it, you have to do a cold boot.

it affects only gtx 260's apparantly. and only when they are overclocked via the driver. and only in left 4 dead. and only with the newer drivers.

its quite peculiar indeed.
