seems these are a bugfix for all those that were having trouble with the 185.65's the performance improvement is nice!

they also seem to have removed the previous 185.65's altogether!

eVGA's Precision doesn't seem to allow fan control with these drivers, nor with the 185.65s. I've tried two releases of Precision, currently am using the 1.6.0 version.

I need some fan control! Anyone know what does work?

<edit>

Well, un-synch the GPUs (for my GTX 295), select GPU2 and the fan stuff is modifiable.

Great will test ASAP, fu.. I have missed this nice feature and once again nVidia gives us another reason why we should love them. AO is frikking wonderfull :D

This then we have 3D stereo around the corner. man does it feel nice to have an GTX 285 and be a proud nVidia owner. they are the best plain and simple!

nVidia FTW!!

right thread this time ;)
For those Nvidia video card and WinXP owners out there, listen up. The new beta drivers that came out can give up to an 11% increase in CoD:WW. Read below:

This driver supports GeForce 9-series, 100-series, and 200-series desktop GPUs.

New in Release 185.66:

o Adds support for the new GeForce GTX 275 GPU.
o Adds support for CUDA 2.2 for improved performance in GPU Computing applications. See www.nvidia.com/cuda for more details.
o Accelerates performance in several 3D applications. The following are examples of improvements measured with Release 185 drivers vs. Release 182 drivers (results will vary depending on your GPU, system configuration, and game settings):
o Up to 11% performance increase in Call of Duty: World at War
o Up to 5% performance increase Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
o Up to 22% performance increase Crysis: Warhead with antialiasing enabled
o Up to 11% performance increase in Fallout 3 with antialiasing enabled
o Up to 14% performance increase in Far Cry 2
o Up to 45% performance increase in Mirror’s Edge with antialiasing enabled
It would be nice if this boost was for Vista also. This is definitely worth trying the beta drivers if you use WinXP and you play CoD:WW.

Little guide on how to modify the INF to get the drivers installed for unsupported cards, worked for me at least.

Look for your card under the manufacturer header. You may have to go into the device manager to find your hardware id for my 8800 GTS 640 it was

%NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0193.1% = nv_G8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0193

Change it to "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS" = Section003, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0193

so basically "Card Name" = Section003, Hardware ID

I also added NVIDIA_G80.DEV_0193.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS" to the strings but I'm not sure that was necessary.

just tried them... grid gained about 5% in fps but is stuttering now.... fear, dead space and crysis warhead seem fine... no boost in crysis warhead... probably going to revert to 182.50 so i can play grid properly

EDIT: went back to 182.50... grid is nice and smooth again

Deleted 185.66 .. and went back to 185.65 .. all dx10 games run fine now i.e no black lines etc games WOW and farcry 2 tryed ..

also the 185.66 made some programs to stop responding , well a few Odd that .. this was after reboot .. unless the drivers have a mem leak ..

That's interesting I don't have problems with dx10 games. In fact I think it helped performance in them. Not to say I haven't seen issues with these drivers though, there definitely are many.

Same problems with the .65's in SLI mode resize HDTV desktop does not adjust overscan it adjust my resolution down to 1804X1010. Single gpu works in this regard but not SLI.

This problem does not exist with the .50's.

HL2 still mest up
My HL2 and Counter Strike Source are completely messed up also. Is that unique to this or recent drivers? I have not touched these games in months.
By 'messed up' I mean black screen or scatterings of bright or few colors.

yes, 185.65 and .66 cause this.

my recommendations is install the 182.50, forget the 185 series for now. still to many bugs. games mest up, games crashing, in some cases games not even starting.

Yeah, I'm back on the 182.50s as well.. While I *love* the Ambient Occlusion in the .66 release, I like actually being able to play GRID better ;)

I also went back to 182.50. The 185.66 did fix one thing. Custom Resolutions. With 182.50 if I specified a custom resolution it would tell me the test of the resolution failed even though it was obvious it did not. The 185.66 fixed this annoying defect.
