Hi,

I am your local Tyan Reseller and i have some exciteing product annoucments to make!

First of all, Tyan is offering a Dual DVI variant of the Radeon 9800Pro. The model is G9800PRO-MD. Tyan dose not stop there! Tired of those BOREING Refrence boards that other 'brands' rebox and sell? Fear not, Tyan dose not stand up for that. Both G9800Pro-M and the G9800PRO-MD offers hardware monitoring. The Tachyon Graphics Monitor is a user-friendly system monitoring utility that allows the user to monitor the fan, voltage, and temperature!

Listed below are the specs!

VPU ATI RADEON 9800 PRO

Memory 128MB DDR

# of Pipelines 8

Core Speed 380MHz

Memory Speed 680MHz

Memory Interface 256-bit

DirectX Support 9.0

AGP Support 8X

OpenGL Support 2.0

Hardware Monitoring Yes

Fan Speed Adjustment Yes

Yeah, but does this dual-DVI version have dual-link capability, or are both DVI's single-link? (IE, can it do 2048x1536 DVI displays?)

Granted, there's probably only a handful of people on the planet who care, but it'd still be nice to have a dual-link product from ATI.

Actually Wilson has a IBM monitor that has dual link dvi and supports some outrageous resolution!

and well the highist monitor resoluiton is 2048 x 1536 so i dunno.

I have the same rig (an IBM T210). Right now the only graphics card you can use in digital mode without gross tricks is the Quadro FX 2000.

Most of the ATI 9500-9800 cards use an integrated TDMS driver which is single link. However, I suspect the dual-dvi card needs an outboard driver, which gives me some miniscule hope it could be a dual-link solution.

If i say Yes will you buy one from me? : D

BTW, there is a good chance that they did what Evga did on their geforce4, im not exactly sure what it is but soloman said its not a true dvi port, the quality comes out the same as if it was on a vga to dvi converter....

This cards looks nice. I wonder how far this 9600 Pro will overclock.

Looks like Tyan will have a nice line up with the 9600 and 9800 Pros.

The main question is if it's capable of driving two "digital" displays. The specs on ATi's site just says:Dual integrated display controllers

What we LCD owners need to find out if it's capable of driving two digital displays. The specs just say "integrated":Integrated 165 MHz TMDS transmitter (DVI 1.0 compliant and HDCP ready)

It doesn't mention dual. :( I'll email ATi and see what they have to say. because if it's capable of driving two "digital" displays then I'm all over this one baby!!! :)

Yes, i knew you would ask that question!

And thruthfully i have no idea how what is going on there, but i do have a feeling that it is is not like haveing a true dual dvi output for quality, its probly more like.

haveing a built in vga to dvi converter.... heh, : ( then agian, tyan could be a reneagade and actually engeneer a 'new' board that turely supports it, they somehow offer hardware monitoring, could be purely external though heh.

BTW, i orderd the hitachi 16ms monitor! comes friday!

and tell us what ya hear from ati.

Sweet! Tell me if you like your monitor when you get it. I'm not sure if you used a LCD monitor before. But if so, play games like Red Alert 2, C&C Generals, Age of Empires and just start scrolling around the screen. With these Hitachi 16ms monitors you should see less color blurring. I know on the Samsung 172T I had for 3 days it performed horribly with RTS games. Scrolling around on the Hitachi's in RTS games is great. Granted it's not perfect, but the color blurring is hardly if that noticable compared to other monitors.

I will definetly let ya know about ATi's response. :)

If the card has a Sil64CT178 or other dual-link encoder, and ATI's drivers actually use it, you bet I'd buy one. :) Unfortunately, I discovered some nastiness where the ATI 9500pro can't do 3D or overlays using DVI & res >1600x1200. Hard locks the system

In addition, MSI claimed their FX 5800 had one, but when I looked at the card in the store it seemed to show otherwise. I don't trust anybody these days.

Ah hehe, for what your doing, you defiantly need to step up to a Quadro, maybe even the new NV35GL's ; D

Your definatly gonna want to say away from the ati X1 or whatever they call it now, horrible horrible solutions.

The FireGL cards have dual DVI ports by using an add-on board that plugs into the adapter connector on the card. It seems Tyan just redesigned the board and added the extra components from the add-on board to the card itself. So, it probably has the same DVI support the FireGL cards have.

I'm waiting for a dual-PCI-Express workstation with 2 Quadro FX 4000G to drive the T221. Then I'll sell my Quadro FX 2000.

As a little update, Tyan sent me an email saying they may drop the 9700pro and 9800pro dual dvi, not sure why, but somepeople try to claim it dosent exsist, while they have pictures of it on their site!
