So I got an Asus eeepc1000HE, and it comes w/o an optical drive. I need to install my MS Office on it so I can post more efficiently; what's the best way to do it?

My plan was to copy the full Office Suite onto a USB stick, then copy it to the netbook, and run the install app... will that do the trick?

Thank you for your swift replies, which I am eagerly anticipating.

I have a USB transfer cable that makes all drives available between two computers. You could actually stick it between the netbook and a desktop and install it from your desktop's optical drive.

If you already have a flash drive though that's probably easier. :p

USB key should do it (just copy the cd contents to a folder and run the Setup.exe file). Or if that doesn't work, rip the CD to an ISO, transfer it via the USB key, and mount it on the netbook and install.

I don't get the netbook till next week so we'll see how it goes.

Meanwhile, the Dell Studio goes back to Dell for tech support round 2. GRRR.

I would just network an optical drive from another machine in the house.

Forgot to update this, but the usb stick worked like a charm.

Do you have an MSDN Subscription?

Download the .exe version and store on a mem-stick and you should be good to go.

All of the Above ^^

:D

Sharing the Disc across the network is probably the simpliest way as long as you don't have permission issues. Otherwise it would take more time than the USB stick. But if you want to install something larger it would be the best option.

well another good idea is network drive.

have your essential files on network drive as normal files and simply install them

or isos on network drive, and virtual cd-rom on network
