Thats right. UK guy looking for a laptop. Have a maximum of £635 for it. I can deviate approx 0.02 from that price.

Main focus for it:

Watching films
Playing Games
Downloading
Surfing.

thats like saying:

Guys, I need a car, main use is to drive.

Be a little more specific: screen, processor, what kinds of games you like? How much storage you need?

Sorry for quick question, I was nipping of to bed, and I thought it would be worth catching a few answers before going off to bed :)

The reason for that price is that I can get the following laptop atm for the same price:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40Ghz, 3MB, 1066MHz)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 - English
Jet Black Colour with Matte Finish
15.4" Widescreen WUXGA+ CCFL (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife™
2.0 Mega pixel Integrated Web Camera
4096MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x2048]
500GB (5.400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3450
Blu-Ray Rom
Primary 6-cell 56 WHr Lithium Ion battery
Intel WiFi Link 5100 (802.11 a/b/g/n 1X2) 1/2 MiniCard
Internal English Qwerty Backlit Keyboard

Backed up with a 4yr warranty with Dell.

Im just wondering if there is anything more "game orientated" for this price. The specs on the above laptop look nice, but its let down by a **** graphics card. Apparently you cant upgrade laptop graphics cards and dell would not let me select any other card.

Many thanks

Anyone have any other alternatives at this price?

i wouldnt say its THAT bad graphics card. And the cpu is pretty decent.
Just be glad it HAS a dedicated graphics card, 99% of laptops around here for less than 1000 have integrated GPUs.
I would be all over that.

If it could play Unreal Tournament 2004, Counter Strike Source and Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, on 1920x1200 I would buy it lol.

Ive read that it will play them at lower resolutions (I think :S) but playing these games @ 640x480 on a 1920x1200 does not appeal to me, and I can only get the laptop @ 1920x1200 (glitch)

I was playing UT2K4 at 1280x1024 on a GF4MX years ago. A modern integrated card could play that at 19x12, though likely at lower to medium settings.

Apparently the ATi Radeon 3450 256mb is not an integrated card but a dedicated card.

It would be nice if CS-S and UT2K4 played @ 1920x1200 but I think at that resolution Video ram plays a large part, and regardless of card generation you need a certain mb of video to run it.

Sorely tempted.

The turning factor for me will be Rainbow 6 Vegas 2. Always kickass for some lanning, if I could play this higher than 1024x768, even on low, I would get it.
