View Full Version : Another Vice City Question
OK, I am trying to complete the 5 purchases (out of 8 possible). The list of the 8 is as follows:
1. Boatyard in Viceport.
2. Cherry Popper Ice Cream Factory in Little Haiti
3. Kaufman Cabs in Little Haiti
4. Car Showroom in Little Havana
5. Print Works in Little Haiti
6. Film Studio in Prawn Island
7. The Malibu Club in Vice Point
8. Pole Position in Ocean Beach
Got the Boatyard even though I had to play that dam boat race about 50 times to complete it!
Got the Print Works.
Got the Malibu Club.
I can't complete the Porn Studio because I can't get the dam seaplane to get off the water.
I'm currently trying to complete the Cherry Popper Ice Cream Factory. I bought it but now I don't know what to do in it. I jump in the Ice Cream truck. It says to drive around, park and hit the horn to get some business. I drive, park in place, hit the horn and nothing happens. I can't hear the horn (only hear music) and no one comes to the truck. What do I need to do here and how many times do I need to do it?

Cherry Popper- Ya gotta make 50 "sales" and then go back to the Ice Cream factory and you'll be done. I went all the way to the beach by the hotel where you start the game from and parked alongside the walkway by the beach, turned the music on (which is honking the horn in that vehichle, when it's on it means you're open for business.), then I just went and had a smoke while the customers racked in their orders. I got 85 sales in one spot! (I had no clue either so I set me goal for 100 figuring that would do it, it did but there's no advantage to going over 50. ;) )
Stay in one spot 'til you get the "no new customers" and then move a couple of blocks along the path and wait again. ;)
The seaplane is just a bitch to get off the water. Full throttle, when you get a bit of momentum pull back like a mofo & pray. (Or do what I did and get the car editor and give the planes engines some REAL balls. ;) )
I just won it last night, and I am SO happy! :D
What did you mean when you said, "turn on the music"? When ever I get into a vehicle, the music is always on. Can you actually hear the horn above the music? How do you know (if you can't hear the horn) that people will come to the truck? Is there some message that appears to let you know that?
Also, what did you mean when you said, "pull back like a mofo"? I do not see a 'pull back' control. It's just the 'w' key to go forward (like the remote control plane), which is automatically full throttle (actually it's more like a high idle).

"pull back like a mofo" = Hit whatever key you use to lean back while on the motorcycle and hold it down. (The lean forward key makes you descend)
"music" = Turn your radio off, and when you 'honk your horn' it toggles the ice cream truck music on/off. (You'll be able to hear the ice cream truck music with the radio off...and it sounds like an ice cream truck. ;) )
I didn't get the used car dealer in Little Havana yet, I must go play! :D
Hmm. I didn't know there was a 'mofo' button for the Seaplane. Heh heh. I assume you are talking about the lean up and lean down buttons that the remote control helicopter had? I have those binded to the up/down arrow buttons. I thought I had tried that but I'll check it out again.
Yeah I just bought the car dealership. I haven't done any of the missions on that yet.
Check this out. I only had about $20,000 before I bought it (needed $50,000). I sat at the Cherry Pop Plant and proceeded to stay there for about two hours plugging guys away and stealing their money until I had over $50,000. Whoa! Talk about a psycho killer!

Yeah, the "mofo" keys are your up/down buttons.
Oh, and "+10 cheater" refers to the second trainer by Pizzadox....I sort of lived thru the game thru me numpad 2, 3, & 7 key. ;)

Well I've removed Vice City from my review now, its too unstable to use and just has too many bugs *yoink* its gone.
I have come close to pulling it off my HDD myself (I have felt like putting my fist through the monitor a few times and/or beating up the guys that wrote this game) but I am going to stick it out until I finish it (if I can). So far, the good things still outweigh the bad.
Digital. I didn't even know there was a Trainer. I had been using the type in commands. Thanks for the link to that site, it's the best one yet.

I had the plane flying but the ice cream van is impossible. I have tried everything but the horn just will not work, damn lousy console ports:mad:
Vampire. You were the one that started the post about the Seaplane.
So how did you get it off the water?

Now that's damned odd, I had no trouble with that at all.
Do you have some form of funkadelicly weird keyboard or mouse? (I bound "horn" to "mousewheel down" ;) )
That site is just the bee's nuts as far as GTA things are concerned, I got hooked on 'em back with GTA3 at their www.gta3hq.com site. After modding the hell out of GTA3 it was like a whole new game! :D
I can't wait to see what's coming for VC! ;)

My horn was set to T at one point and even then it would not work. Mike when you get into the plane turn right slightly so you get a long clear run along the water, when you get a bit of speed hit down that button hard:D mine are set as 9 and 6, I think those are the default:cool:
Oh, you mean the mofo button?
I have meeting with that bad ass Seaplane today when I get home from work. ;)
I'm going to put some mofo on it!
How far did you drive the Popper truck? I only drove it a couple of blocks but I believe Digital said he drove it much further. I will have to play with that one too.

buggy ?
really ?
its a dream compared to gta3...
now THAT game was a bug infestation unto itself... tbh...
the vice city game has been pretty kewl for the most part... no probs for me... though I have yet to try it on my new AIW :D
The game runs pretty smooth for me at 1024x768x32, 4X FSAA, 8X Aniso.
The problems I have seen are the weird missing parts of the scene sometimes, like driving up a bridge with no rails, sometimes the road over a bridge disappears while driving over it, sometimes coming up to a building and parts are missing until you walk right up on it.
And then there is the save/load issue. Most of the time it's quick but sometimes it's awful long like over 5 minutes sometimes. At first I thought it was the game locking up but then I would just let it sit (while sitting there cussing or go have a smoke or something) on the black screen and eventually the scene would appear.
Then it may just be me but some of the missions are just too difficult. Like the boat mission from the boatyard. To me the tolerance is just too high. I mean nothing less than a perfect run will win it with not a second to spare. I ran that dam game like 50 or so times to finally win it and if I tried to do it again, it would take probably that many runs (hopefully less) again. Half the time at full throttle, the boat wouldn't even make it up the ramp. They could have built a little more leeway there. The remote plane was another one. I could never figure out when to drop the bombs. Seemed like there was no consistent aiming that would hit the target. The bombs just were not going where I thought it should no matter how I figured the trajectory. It was pure luck that I beat that mission.
Just out of curiousity, is there a view on that remote control plane to actually see where the bombs are hitting? Now would have helped to compensate for another run.

is this before or after the patch ?
Before the patch. I tried that patch and it was worse than without it. More scenic glitches with it. I took it out.
I got another question about the dam Seaplane. I finally got it to fly. It seems the only place it goes fast enough is by the wall to the right of where it takes off (in the same direction as it's facing at start up). Well now I still can't finish the mission. I go along and get the flyers. But I only end up getting six flyers and then there is nothing left. I then am flying around the city over and over again and there is nothing more to get. I eventually land the have a mission failure. There is supposed to be 12 flyers to pick up? How come I only get 6?
Also I have driven all over the place, (including the beach in Ocean Beach) and I can't get the Popper Truck horn to honk for anything.
I'll tell ya, I am getting more tired of this game as I play. This game had so much potential but got screwed up with bad coding somewhere along the line. This game started out as fun but it didn't last long. I am about ready to throw this sombitch in the trash! I think the guys who made this game smoked one joint too many!
