Welp my 7950GX2 finally died ... just sent it in to EVGA for a RMA .
Any idea/guess as to what I'll get as a replacement? , doubt they have many extra 7950gx2's lying around they been EOL for a good 3+yrs.

Really ? that be cool .. I would think I get a 8800GTS 640 since its almost exactly the same performance-wise in DX9.

You will probably get the 9800GX*2 back.

That's coincidental. Mine just died, too and I just sent it back to EVGA. Love the lifetime warranty!

Really wondering what they'll give you in return. The 8800 GTS 640 MB is probably closest in performance. But I wonder if they'll end up giving you something newer like a 9800 GT?

250GT is probably kinda close. Itself being a 98xx card.

Just received a e-mail from a EVGA rep they are replacing my 7950GX2 with a 9800GX2 ... hopefuly I wont have any issues with the 9800GX2.
This was the 3rd time I had to RMA my 7950GX2 since I purchased it from newegg back in 2006.
1st one just up & died wouldnt even post, 2nd one ram on the card started to die & was artifacting, 3rd one was starting to overheat, then artifact/crash/lock up after 30-60mins. Not blaming EVGA, just think the 7950GX2 was a poor card, was always a space heater in my system :(

Hopefuly the 9800GX2 doesnt have this heat problem as well.

That's a pretty nice deal. 9800GX2 should run circles around a 7950GX2.

i had 7950gx2 before, upgraded from 7800GT SLI back then. Mine 7950GX2 ran cooler then two 7800GTs combined.

Wow!, That's pretty awesome. I just checked my products page and they are sending me back a 640-P2-N821-AR, which is a 8800GTS-640MB...so I guess it's luck of the draw.

*shrug* maybe I had bad luck with the ones I got

on a side note anyone suggest the best driver for the 9800GX2 ? Vista64 / Win7 64

I've heard 181.22 was decent for Vista (I thought I heard some issues with 182.50 but worth a try anyway). 181.77 was pretty good for Win7 despite lack of dual monitor support.
