RV870
1.9 TFlops
40nm
DX11
July 2009
4 TFlops for the X2
It seems like the next battle is going to be at 2 TFlops, because even intel is targetting that sort of performance with Larrabee.
It's logical to think that the GT300 should have something around 2 TFlops too. Perhaps 1.7 GHz x 3 Ops x 384 SPs = 2 TFlops.
The summer is going to be interesting. :)

I sure hope so!

Waiting for the big boys to launch. r

Good lord! That's a lot of processing power.
I don't really need a new GPU but if this is what the next generation will bring, I'll buy one.
Anyone else starting to feel that new GPUs are a bit unnecessary nowadays as most games tend to be multiplatform titles and as such won't make use of the extra features of the new gpu(developers making their games with consoles in mind and then porting them to the pc)? I mean I've made it quite far with my 8800gts and I have yet to come across a title that wouldn't be playable with high settings at 1920x1200(20fps+). I really doubt we'll see any DX11 games widely available before the next generation of consoles is upon us.

2TFlops bring it on! 2010 is certainly going to be interesting with three big players! ;)

GPU's are rocking, but I can't wait for 2010 to buy my 2 Raided SSD drives. That will freaking pwn fps, loading times, general usage next year. That's another huge upgrade that we will definitly see the performance rise above what we have now.

I'm a framerate wh0re so I'm still waiting for the day that I can use AA in a new game while still maintaining the framerate that I want (50+ usually). I used AA quite a bit for the first year after I got my 8800GTX but it started getting too slow in newer games so I dropped it again, even with my GTX 260 overclocked most titles tend to chop a little with AA on, despite running at 85fps constant with it off.
I am still waiting for a card that will allow me to play Crysis and Crysis warhead flawlessly, with NO slow-downs at max res and LOD. :)
Once I have that (and the ability to f@ld like a beast) I will be relatively happy.

Shouldn't it be more like 2.4 TFlops? GT300 is supposed to have 480 SPs [1], multiply that by 2 with an X2-type design (or maybe just 2-way SLI?) and you have 4.8 TFlops, definitely something not to fear ATI for (but just my opinion ^_^)

[1] Unless the 384 SP count for the supposed-to-be GT212 is the real count for GT300, that's it...

I'm being conservative about the transistor count & clocks. nVidia had huge problems with the 65nm GT200, and the 55nm process did not help a lot.
Today, i did read about 512 'SPs' for the GT300 in another thread here, so, who knows.
Still my biggest concern is the memory bandwidth. :D

Even the 40nm process from TMSC is having some problems, as far as I've heard, like... leakage, maybe? that probably means if TSMC isn't able to have a solution for that, we'll still have that superb GT300 gpu, but without any power improvement, more like having the same power envelope as current GTX 285/295, but it's just a guess...
About the SPs, haha yeah, 512 would be godly, let's hope it's not just pure speculation :S
