View Full Version : Wierd win7/vista networking problem
This is for the laptop in my sig. Before I started using win7 beta's, in vista 64 I power on the lappy and I get the pop up (windows could not connect to all network drives), I have one networked drive. Also networking says I have no internet. But, when I open up firefox I get right on, and when I browse to the networked drive it has a red x by it but when I click on it the red x goes away and I'm able get into it. Both of these things are annoying but livable.
Then I started using win7 beta's and both problems went away. Now I just clean installed win7 RC1 and both problems have returned :(
Anyone know what is causing this?

since this is a laptop, you are probably talking about wireless. What you are experiencing is probably the short delay it takes wireless to actually connect to the router.

Yeah, I thought about that but I have another much older laptop with a pcma or whatever you call it card (wireless G) with no delay at all.

but that is the thing, not every wireless device plays nice each other. There are many diffrent chipsets: Intel, Atheros, Broadcom, Ralink, VIA, Marvell, Realtek etc...
For instance from personal experience Atheros and Broadcom doesn't play nice.
My Laptop has two internal wi-fi card, Atheros and Intel, each card works differently with diffrent routers.
OK, thanks I understand that. Just weird that builds 7000, 7057, and 7077 worked fine. Ah well....

both my Intel and Atheros cards work fine with RC1, maybe there is compability issue with your card and RC1

My Netgear DG834PN would not play nice with my mobile or my PS3. ::(:
Swapped if for a Buffalo running dd-wrt and everything is perfect.
