View Full Version : What Windows 7 antivirus are you guys using?
I use AVG free on XP, but i hear that 64bit has trouble with a lot of aintivirus software. Any suggestions?
I've had zero trouble with Antivir 9 on win 7 64 bit so far. Just a guess, I would say most of what worked on Vista should work, or have workable updates soon, for win 7.

Ditto on Avira AntiVir (free version) under 7/x64. Supposedly NOD32 4.0 works wonderfully under it too, but I haven't tried it.

Just installed AVG free edition. too early to tell.
I read today that Norton is having a public RC for their Win7 supporting version.
I think its available today.
McAfee 64-bit AV for Vista. Got it for free through school.

Been using AVG Internet Security, which I basically got for free after rebates, and it works well with Win 7 x64.

most have to be updated for win7, in later builds 7077+ they changed how AV software reports to OS.

That explains why it kept saying I didn't have an AV installed when AntiVir is installed and updated. Shutting the report feature for AV took care of that.

I'm using BitDefender 2009, bought it on november and it works well under 7, however OS doesn't know if the antivirus is working properly or is updated, because as Nekrosoft says Microsoft has changed the way AV programs communicate with OS.
I hope it will be fixed in a future BitDefender update, but it doesn't bother me at all because antivirus works

Hmm i must be the only one using Trend Micro's trial internet security for windows 7. I have to say, i dont have any reason to change atm as ive never experienced any problems with it. The ram usage seems low and the scans are fast, which is all im needing.
I guess most internet security suites do exactly the same thing these days, just with different GUI's.

Norton AV 2010. No problems on both Win7 32 and 64bit.
nis 2009,
after installation it needs a hotfix to allow live update to run - ( true for xp too )
other than that it's a-o-k ;)
NIS 2009. Works like a charm as always.

None, never needed one, it's just a crappy piece of software making my pc slower and starting from my first pc something like 15 years ago never had a single infection

I use common sense and usually does the trick. But just in case I run malware bytes and SAS about once a month which usually only find the dumb tracing cookies.
