Hey guys, I'm having a problem with a 285 GTX card I bought today. So far I've tested HL2: Ep2, Fear 2, Mass Effect, and L4D but when I start the game, my computer shuts off.
Specs:
Motherboard: Asus P5N-32 SLI
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo
PSU: 700w thermaltake
RAM: 2gb 800
Video Card: Evga 285 GTX
Any advice would be great, thanks.

That sounds like a power supply problem if your computer shut down when you play a game,But a 700watt thermatake should be plenty of power for a GTX 285,unless the power supply is going bad.
Make sure you have both power connectors connected tightly.

Well, I did a little experiment. I disconnected all my fans and CD rom from the power supply and tried again. The game plays for about 5 minutes and then it shuts off compared to it happening like 5 seconds after starting before so it sounds to me like my PSU is crap and I need to get a new one, sound that way to you guys too?

Should have gotten the Thermaltake instead of the cheap-knock-off thermaltyke.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Yep, it sounds like a PSU problem, probably going bad on you.

I thought you had a Thermaltake ,I have never heard of a thermaltyke, but you can get a Corsair 750watt for $119 at newegg.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006.the Corsair 850watt is just $144 and would be better if you plan to upgrade to two GTX 285.

Those corsairs look good. You might want to email thermaltake and ask them WTF... a 700W PSU should be enough power, but it might be failing.

I have a 850w Corsair. Very nice, very quiet. Quality parts now they use the same gear as Seasonic.

I just bought the Corsair TX750W from Newegg: $94.00 after MIR and free shipping.
