It can be a lot harder to manage them so you'll spend a lot of time making sure they are chopping trees where they should be, not getting stuck, etc.

They become really stupid for pathing sometimes. The simplest things seem to keep them from getting to their destination.

I think they might actually be a little smarter if we left fog of war on

Bman212121
05-18-09, 01:37 PM
But I find that so much more annoying.

Bman212121
05-18-09, 01:38 PM
There was another map that we played where everyone was surrounded by trees.

So rather than worrying about units I just started focusing on economy.

Bman212121

We knew they'd be attacking with dragons but I didn't get around to building towers fast enough.

Bman212121

Those stupid things are quite annoying as you only have like 2 things that can shoot at them, and they have a ton of HP.

The computer actually started playing smarter too and was attacking on both sides of the base, in different locations each time.

Bman212121

So I constantly had to move archers around to kill those things.

Bman212121

We took care of them and near the end I hit the population cap.

Bman212121
05-18-09, 01:43 PM
Which is 200 units in that game. The nice thing is no matter what unit it is they only count as 1 unit.

So I built like 20 griffin avaries and went to town making griffin riders.

I probably had like 50 of those things, and I spammed as many as I could at one time, allowing me to have over 200 population.

Bman212121
05-18-09, 01:45 PM
I think I was able to get about 208 since I was attacking at the time.

Those things are kind of dumb in that they bomb everything. They can hurt each other even though they are supposed to be in the air. I probably killed more of my own stuff than the enemy did.

So after we played that we also got a round of Command and Conquerer Red Alert in.

Bman212121

That game is such a PITA to get to work right.

Warcraft 2 you literally install it, install IPX and run the game.

Bman212121
05-18-09, 01:49 PM
Everyone can see the game and it works perfectly.

Bman212121
05-18-09, 01:49 PM
Red Alert you have to mess around with the frame types, the network address until you finally get the computers to see each other.

Bman212121

Since you can't use IPX in Vista, I'm actually using VPC with a windows 98 install inside of it to run the game.

So it's kind of funny loading that up to play the game.

Somehow it finally decided to work yesterday, so we were able to get a round in. My friend was just playing on an older P4 with XP installed, but I was using my laptop.

Needless to say the game ran way too fast on my computer, so it wasn't playable.
