Yea I lapped it. It has helped about 5C I think.

It's not running at the clocks in my sig though. For some reason it likes to randomly BSOD at those.

interesting how some people have almost no difference, and 5c is pretty significant.

I can P95 it, play WiC or anything that would stress it, and it works fine. I'll be browsing the internets and it stops working.

Well the thing is that it needs to be broke to be fixed. The base on the TRUE isn't very flat at all, so I think that's the biggest thing.

i am wondering if i should lap when i get new one.....i am noob at building.

I'm not sure if it's the board or the CPU. But I do think it's the board. The 780i seem to act funky above 1400mhz FSB.

Well I ran mine without lapping it for a while, I would definitely make sure everything is working good before you attempt it.

Yea. The processor wasn't too bad, but it helped even it a little. The cooler is definitely were it needed some TLC.

Well I don't think there is any need to lap my Zalman 9700 that I have, it appears to be pretty flat and smooth.

Overall it didn't translate into higher OC's for me, just cooler temps.

Yea. If for some reason you need to RMA it, they aren't going to take back something that is missing all of the numbers from it.
