Oh, well that's what the board is for. If you don't feel comfortable lapping, then I wouldn't suggest doing it. The tangible gains are going to be slim. If for some reason I broke the processor I wouldn't be too devastated, but if it were my only computer to use I probably wouldn't have tried it.

common sense.

That's kind of a hard one to teach sometimes. You can learn it, but it's usually not the easy route.

no, mine seems fine, its the new one i am wondering about.....but getting it set and ready first is the right thing to do.

Yup. I always wait a week or two before I try to OC or do anything special. That way I know it wasn't something I did. Makes it easier to try to troubleshoot the problem if you have less variables involved.

I was talking earlier about how there was a 600 post gap between the two people I'm passing.

I was only 1/3 of the way there when I said that. Now I'm almost 2/3 of the way.

Anyway we can go back to talking about computer hardware if you want. Spamming kind of sucks if there is nothing to discuss.

Heh, yea that's the one thing about this... I normally averaged under 5 posts per day, so this whole 200 - 300 business is just ludicrous.

Yea, what I like to do when putting together a new pc is this.

Cpu + HSF (Obviously :p)/mobo/1 stick of ram, no video card. Add the PSU and make sure everything is plugged it. Then power the pc on and make sure it throws out a beep code for the GPU. If it does that then I'll add my GPU and see if it posts.

That way if everything blows up in a fiery inferno I lose as little as possible. It also eliminates about every possible variable that you can. It's even better if you have a known working PSU, so it's just one less thing to worry about.
