Machida proved a lot of people wrong tonight, including me. I thought Rashad was going to win by TK or Decision. Props to Machida. He is indeed a skilled fighter. Many have under-estimated him.

I respect Rashad. I didn't expect him to get knocked out cold either. I was surprised. I thought the fight was going to be a toss up. I really didn't know who was going to win.

As far as Machida goes, I have a soft spot for the Karateka because I studied Shorin-Ryu (ShorinKan) from the ages of 15-20. From there I move on to Judo for 20-25, and am now dabbling in BJJ. Yes, I know Machida's Karate base is Shotokan.

Karate is fine for an MMA striking base. I can see a Karateka with a great sprawl and knowledge in wrestling and BJJ doing well. Of course, I'd throw Judo into the mix too.

MMA fighters that prefer striking should definitely have ground knowledge and submission defense.

Been a fan of Machida for years. I felt like he would win, but Rashad had shown improvements.

The way Rashad was dropped was alarming, Machida is for real. I guess we will see a match up with Rampage-Machida in late August, but I just dont see Rampage having the tools to dispatch Machida, especially since recently he has resorted to boxing and relying on his huge overhead right hook. The accuracy and counterpunching ability of Machida was very impressive.

Thanks man... that is a nice wallpaper. Rarely head over to Sherdog myself... only went there Saturday night to look for gifs lol... they are always good on gifs quickly, and photoshop threads lol.
