Hello all,
I am making a new system to play Crysis sort of games on a 24 inch monitor at 1900 X 1200 with 8xAA and 16x AF
I am planning on a Core i7 920, 6 GB DDR3 .
I needed to know which of the following will be good and how much of a difference will be in them.
GTX 280 Tri SLI
GTX 285 SLI (1 gb)
GTX 285 SLI (2 gb)
GTX 285 Tri SLI
GTX 275 Tri SLI
Thank you for your response.
GTX285 Tri SLI is the best performance in all games even better then the GTX295 Quad SLi in most cases except Crysis where the extra shader power helps otherwise the extra bandwith and frame buffer of the GTX285 wins

Even a a TRI SLI GTX 280 will give you great framerates in most games.Plus you can useally find them a $100 cheaper in price. It is true the GTX 285 will overclock a little higher .But even with my BFG GTX 280 OCX I can run them at 690/1566/2600 if I just needed to, but there stock 665/1458/2400 is plenty fast enough for me.
what card do you have now? if it's a geforce 7xxx series and you're not looking to upgrade for a few years then get a GTX 285 and then another down the line when they get cheaper. I have 2x8800GTX in SLI and they actually have a higher minimum fps in crysis than a GTX 285 i tried in my system. I suggest you wait because nvidia will release the gt300 chips (GTX 300) this november.

Just get a temporary card and wait til the new big boys come out. At this stage of the game its not worth paying the price for these cards that people were last year. Its limited fun.
