just downloaded and ran it at 1024x768, all settings high/enabled except for AA value, which i left at one.

benchmark 1:
min. fps: 7.73
avg. fps: 14.09
max fps: 36.78

benchmark 2:
min. fps: 5.37
avg. fps: 16.16
max fps: 37.48

this is on a km266 chipset, athlonxp 2200+, 512 megs of pc2100 ram, and an xfx geforce4 ti 4200 at stock speeds. after i pick up some ramsinks and maybe a new gpu cooler today, i'll oc it and see if the results improve.
i think this is going to be a great benchmark to test for overclocking integrity. it also made me think about replacing my gpu cooler, which was only warm while the benchmark ran.
also, the graphics are good, but somehow, i was expecting better....seems to stress the gpu enough tho.

Thanks for the link... the benchmark ended up being completely messed up on my system. Graphical errors everywhere.

Yeah expect an average frame rate of 15~20 with a Geforce4 this is due to the benchmark auto enabling FSAA & AF which sux as it can't be disabled. Also the game is heavily Cg optimised so at this stage there will be gfx errors on none nVIDIA cards. Should be fixed for retail.

actually, the AA/AF idea is a goof idea, as the benchmark will now be completely gpu limited, and cpu won't play as big a factor, making it more of a gpu measurement, even if the frates are rediculously low for previous gpu generations. hopefully the retail version will allow AA/AF to be disabled, because for gameplay, frates matter most; quality second.

AT 1280x1024, I averaged 15 fps on the 9700 Pro. That's a lot lower than it should be, but for now I'm blaming the lack of ati optimizations.

Finally downloaded the thing.

Some results: For benchmark 1 (edit)

1024x768x32 2xFSAA (Default)
Min 15.52
Avg 27.30
Max 46.81

1024x768x32 No FSAA & Performance (In Display Settings)
Min 18.79
Avg 31.63
Max 50.20

640x480x32 No FSAA & Performance (In Display Settings)
Min 20.35
Avg 33.63
Max 50.15

Also, when looking toward the sun, the framerate at least halves, probably quaters. (Goes from looking like Fast Forward, to Slow Motion)

The explosions look crap, but there are a few pretty effects and lots of color.

I wonder how the particle effects effect overall frame rate since such things (explosions, gun fire, smoke, etc.) are almost continually in view, but due to their highly dynamic nature, are usually very inefficient to render.

That system was: Athlon XP2100, GeforceFX 5800 (non-ultra), 512mb PC2100, WinXP.

Average frames per second 36.03 fps
Maximum frames per second 72.78 fps

Can't download from guru3d. As soon as I click accept, it just opens up the main frontpage in the frame..

I have the exact same problems with my errors. I am glad it just isn't me. Anyone else experience the same and if so do you know why?

Oh yeah, there's a new version of the benchmark....they uploaded the wrong one

http://www.yetistudios.com/gunmetal/Gun%20Metal/PC%20Benchmark%20Info.htm

I don't know if this fixes the issues with ATI cards, or if the graphics are any better in general...you guys will have to test it out :p

Right, I just ran through both tests of the Gunmetal benchmark and I didn't see any graphical errors. So it looks like the new version runs on ATI hardware.

Ouch!

It would be interesting to find the settings, if any, that would achieve an average of 30fps.

I posted this in the benchmark forum, but I cant run the benchmark. When I start it all I et a white screen and the sound of the intro, no picture, then it just crashes to desktop. Using the 44.65 drivers any ideas?

If it helps, it ran ok (read: without errors :p) on my Ti200 using 43.51's.
