I believe you are correct, but nothing was shown. Although one image and a short trailer isn't much now. I guess there will be more during E3.

No there not. There just not optimal... Command and Conquer aswell as Battle for Middle Earth had a great control scheme for the gamepad. Yes it's not as good as the M&K but its not horrible by any means.
