"We are not going to fine LeBron for that," NBA spokesman Tim Frank told 1050 ESPN New York's Andrew Marchand. "We haven't had any issues with him before at all."
Just to give you an idea, San Antonio was fined as a team for missing media day, on their day OFF. Keep in mind San Antonio has Tony Parker, Ginobli and Tim Duncan. I don't see them having any issues previously with the NBA.
Michael Jordan has been fined for doing the same, and he was both great AND a poster-child for the NBA. Hell, I remember a few years back when Larry Johnson was playing, he was fined for not being there for the mandatory time allotted.
Sure is nice to be the king when the NBA is your sugar daddy :D
Oh and Lebron's words after disrespecting the Orlando Magic who whooped up on his team, the fans and the NBA at large?
"It's hard for me to congratulate somebody after you just lose to them," he said. "I'm a winner. It's not being a poor sport or anything like that. If somebody beats you up, you're not going to congratulate them. That doesn't make sense to me. I'm a competitor. That's what I do. It doesn't make sense for me to go over and shake somebody's hand."
Well **** you too. At the end of EVERY series, you are supposed to shake hands. Walk off in a non-decider, that's expected. But you don't become a lame-ass prima-donna and walk off and then try to justify it.
The NBA really needs to figure out what kind of message it is sending out. They make their players wear suits and participate in various charitable activities and have a lot of wonderful stories with the players and fans and then they SUPPORT a blatant example of unsportsmanship by their annointed lead puppet, I mean player.
Kudo's
