Just loaded up coolbits. I didn't over clock it yet (5900Ultra), and it says its running at 500/900! Can any other 5900 owners confirm this?

Nrdstrm Yes, same for me. Unfortunately my 5900 Ultra always locks up in 3DMark03 CPU test 1 after running the four game tests. I have to underclock greatly (like 350/750) to avoid this. The odd thing is that all the other 3DMark tests run fine at 500/900, as do UT2003 tests. I 've tried two different pc's (not overclocked, 550 watt power supplies). I also get consistent lockup in HalfLife after a couple of minutes (1280x960, 4xAA and 4X AF). My 9800 pro is now back in my gaming pc and the 5900 Ultra will be returned as soon as an rma number is issued. BTW, I tried the 44.03, 44.10 and 44.61 drivers with the same result. As I mentioned, the CPU test 1 lockup occured in 2 PC's (P4C800 deluxe mb and IT7Max2 V2.0 mb).

Let me know if you have any issues similar to mine. I suspect I was just unlucky.

Yes, same here. msi fx5900, default its 400/850(3d). On the oc panel theres an "auto detect" button, i pressed and the card set itself to 500/913...been benchmarking ever since. Seems stable. Good stuff...

Ditto for me... starts 500/900.

I got the card to run 3dmark03 by dropping to 450/850 with a hickup in the cpu flight sim... hangs for a sec then continues on...

noticed the o/c when I fiddled with the 2d mode to stop the flicker when the pc would need to display an accelerated 3d image in a 2d (windows env) utilizing dvi out... Analog doesn't pick up the bump. 300 to 450 clock ssems to be too big a gap for dvi to handle a smooth transition.

Running with the 44.61 betas at 2d 350/850 and 3d 450/850...
So far all is well
:D

BMG: I think that 3dmark issue seems to be a bug... I was getting stuck at the same test using all the drivers... I've got a p4g8x mb. So, I don't think you are unlucky or alone... I'll test HL to see if I get lockups as well.

Thanks for the information. I'll be interested in your HalfLife results (OGL, 1280x960x32, 4xAA and 4XAF). Maybe the CPU test 1 glitch is just a driver issue. In my case it locks up for several seconds before continuing the rest of the tests. I'd be interested as to whether the problems goes away for you when you underclock to 350/750 like mine did

I was able to run 3Dmark03 all the way through both on the 44.61's & the 44.03's. I had it at 500/900 with no problems what soever...Odd...

hmm.. are the people that have problems have good cooling cases?

Did you watch the cpu test 1 while it was running? The problem is that the video hangs for several seconds and then recovers and runs the rest of the 3DMark03 tests, so you wouldn't notice the problem unless you were actually watching the test. The system isn't completely locked up.

Here's what I found... I disabled SWSC in the bios (switched to uc) and bumped the agp apeture to 256... got no locks in hl for 45 minutes... So that seemed ok... Switched to SOF2 and got one hickup hang similar to the one in hl and the benchmark- but my high speed service provider is not that reliable so that hickup could be connection related. Will test some more, if there are other issues will disable fast write and sideband.

So I take it you also had HalfLife hang problems until you made the changes?

I used powerstrip to turn off fast writes and sideband addressing and still had the problems with cpu test 1. I also used it to force my P4C800 motherboard to agp 4x. My IT7Max2 V2 system is agp 4x and it had the same issues.

Let me know if you had HalfLife problems before making the changes. Thanks.

Looks like a clock issue... I could get the cpu test to run at 450/800 but no higher. Going to call tech tom to see their opinion, but as all 5900 ultras are currently equal (ie reference with a different sticker) and you and I both have the same problem could be either A) driver/MB issue as both of us have asus or B) Bum memory on the card.

I wouldn't think it was a motherboard problem. I've tried both an Asus P4C800 and Abit IT7Max2 V2.

I've played UT2003, the Elite Force 2 demo, SOF2 and Unreal 2 for several hours at 500/900 without problems. On the other hand HalfLife still hangs within a couple of minutes plus the 3DMark03 cpu test 1 problem.
