Yup more cut backs for the British Army. Apparently we are now going to lose a few tank squadrons which means we are losing about 1/4 of our armoured strength:rolleyes:
So now we have our kit that melts in hot weather, our rifle which misfires and jams constantly despite good old government propaganda saying the multi million pound refit. Oh and it passed all the tests....the problem been that Royal Marines do not have the time to stop every hour or so, pull out a nice clean mat and take it apart to clean it:rolleyes:
And don't even get me onto the Royal Navy, unfortunatly I cannot find the pictures but a paper did a very nice comparsion for the queens 25th jubilee and her 50th. The entire British fleet was in the harbour and all you could see in the water would be battleships. The 50th had 8 ships:rolleyes:
Might as well break out the spud guns I guess.

What's the reasoning for the cutback?

you guys are getting sold out I tell ya.
Same thing happened over here with our armed forces, we are just begining to rebuild them and restructure them now. It could take 10 years to repair the damage done to our forces here.
Yeah, "cost cutting" is good until towlie shows up at your front door with 10 Kilos of high explosive strapped to his ass:angel:

We are so stretched that we are having trouble keeping the patrol ship at the falklands. We still rock because of the SAS, SBS Marines and Paras, but funnily enough we need a airforce navy and armoured support;)

I doubt the argies can attack the falklands @ the mo with teh way their economy is...
I can't imagine they can afford the gas to get their planes/ships there in the first place...

As great as they are. They are nothing with out infantry and support. I feel sorry for your spec ops and forces. They have to do so much with so little. DAMN LIBERALS! :p

BU did you know that the Rangers are not special ops or special forces? In fact I did not know this but they are a highly mobil infantry.

Tony Blair is Satan himself, the guy is neither right nor left, not even center. On one hand he is pushing for war and on the other he is selling our armed forces down the drain. It's going to get to the point where a SAS squad will need a evac and they have to hire a bloody civilian chopper instead of a Lynx:rolleyes:

Yeah this sucks, but it's hardly anything new. Defence cutbacks have been in full swing for a long time now, I'd say for at least 10 years, could be even more. Makes you wonder what sort of defence we will have in 10 years time. Maybe they will privatise it :p

Yup, elite infantry, special operations capable, kinda like the USMC Force Recon. Only difference is that Rangers fall under Special Operations Command and Recon don't(NAVY is afraid of competition):D
So yeah, I don't know how it is now, but Rangers are being transformed into a more specialized detatchment, SEALs are going under a transformation as well;)

What are the SEALs doing. I like them but I don't follow them but I am interested in what you know. It seems to me the whole military is transforming into what Rumsfeld wants, which is more mobility and a bigger reliance on special forces and spec ops.

Hes a cheerleader not a polotician, much like clinton, he does everything that the "majority" "wants".
With the only real exception being the war in iraq, but his involvement in that was nothing to do with a security threat, but more cheerleading, only this time transatlantic..
