Just a heads up. Sears has these oon sale for $599. Just grabbed one and OMG, Plasma is   .
IMO the picture slaughters my 2 year old calibrated 42" Toshiba Regza lcd right out of the box with panasonics stock settings. I sold my Tosh for $600 so it was a wash and at first I was a bit unsure if I should being I loved the picture the Regza gave. But wow!

Not a bad unit. I was hesitant to get a Plasma before too. I ended up picking up a TH-46PZ80, which is last years 46" 1080P model and I love it. It handles DVD's, Blu-ray, SD and high def TV, and PS3 gaming perfectly. :)

I upgraded to the S1 model for $799 :) . Much better picture but the x1 was no slouch for the price.

I am hoping that someone can answer this question. I am thinking of getting this tv, my concern is the refresh rate. My question is will this plasma tv be good for xbox online gaming? I will be using it to play 1st person shooters.

Plasma, imo SUCKS because of its splitting colors effect. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for high contrast differential viewing or for gaming.
It is a bichromatic "rainbow" effect. Awful. I had my hands on credit card ring for a Kuro, but couldn't stand that particularity.
And it absolutely exists on every single plasma, 600hz "sub-field" or not. It's there. You want to see it? Here:

It makes me naucious. Just watching this video. It isn't as bad in person, but viewing for 20 minutes starts giving me eye strain. If this somehow doesn't bother you, Kuro's (and I guess Panasonic models now, since they are Pioneers PDP provider) are absolutely beautiful, although whites are not as nice as on LCD's.
